And it's not without merit because I'm sure you remember the Chargers doing the same thing with Whisenhunt and Lynn as well.
If he was told he had to keep Steichen on staff, why would the Rams have had to block an interview with O'Connell? No logic in your arguement whatsoever....Nobody knows Jackshit, so why point fingers and complain?

Wiki says done deal. DL coach. Rodgers won the John Teerlinck Award in 2018 for NFL's best DL Coach. I have to guess that he's a quality add. I'm waiting to see how this happened.
      Exciting times.

Never trust Wiki for current events, it was probably updated by someone who read the rumor.

Don’t know anything more than this about him other than this article but he is a high performing position coach who is sought after.
Aggressive younger coaching staff seems to be the direction.

Chicago Sun-Times confirms Rodgers to Bolts. Wonder if he's the new DC...he was considered for DC in Chicago:

                      rodgers.JPG

Defensive line coach Jay Rodgers, one of the Bears’ best position coaches, is leaving the team, a source confirmed late Wednesday night.

Rodgers will join Brandon Staley, with whom he worked from 2017-18 in Chicago, as a member of the Los Angeles Chargers coaching staff. Staley, who was hired as head coach earlier this week, coached outside linebackers for the Bears.

Rodgers was considered an in-house defensive coordinator candidate for the Bears, who are still looking to replace Chuck Pagano.

Rodgers has coached for the Bears since 2015, when, along with brother Jeff, a special teams coordinator, he followed head coach John Fox from the Broncos.

Rodgers helped develop those in his position group better than almost any assistant in the league. Akiem Hicks became a Pro Bowl player and Eddie Goldman became one of the most well respected nose tackles in the NFL. Bilal Nichols has developed into a starter, while Nick Williams, Mario Edwards and Roy Robertson-Harris all thrived in part-time roles.

Bears fans are not too happy about losing Rodgers:

Per Suntimes article Rodgers joins Charger staff. Kind of worrisome if they let their best coach go? The bears always scraping bottom of the barrel as far as pick go and he (Rodgers) was best in the bussines coaching the line.
