It's highly advantageous to have funds in reserve:
-Surprise cuts that may yet emerge
-June 1 player cut-downs...final wave of free agency
-Add to war chest for ultimate Herbert extension
-Free agency dollars can be forwarded

My hunch is that this team wants to hit the playoffs this year, then go all in for Super Bowl in 2022.

      Current team cap space.

This does not include funds set asside for rookies and some dough to have for signing players later during the season. So for us I think take 10-12 mil from what shows.

Rams last with 18.7 mil over

According to Popper, we have just under $16 million to spend in FA.

OK so take at least 10 mil from that figure.

Just gives an idea who had how much teams have left. Rams still In bad shape and KC has 3 mil and tried to sign Trent Williams lol.

Per Over the Cap - Chargers still have close to $28m of cap space; take away Cook, Rookies and the Telesco In Season Slush Fund and that is how Popper comes up with having $16m of TRUE cap space left.

So the Chargers can still be very active in this market in terms of adding to the roster. I am sure they are waiting for Kyle Fuller first - and it looks like Broncos, Colts and Chargers are interested. Just what team is willing to trade for him (pending his contract revision). Chargers should have no problem offering their 5th for Fuller - thats as high as I would go if they can get him to re-do his contract

I know and why i said that figure didnt figure in rookies and the pool for Telesco. Pretty sure Cook is figured in that already.
So again if you figure in all that, KC is in the red and tried to sign Trent Williams and are said today to be having a visit with Melvin Ingram.

You arent telling me anything new here. We didnt trade for Ertz and likely wont trade for Fuller. Doubt anybody does as Ertz is still being shopped which he probably wont get traded.

I read that the Bears released Kyle Fuller, no need to trade anything for him.

The Chargers have reached agreement with former Lions G Oday Aboushi. I have started a thread.
