If he wins the job. Which means somebody else gets hurt. So hopefully no.

If Bulaga can't play, I think Feiler goes to RT and potentially Jaimes starts at LG. I'm not fond of starting two rookies on one side of the line though.


PS. Why is Bulaga being protected so early in the season? It makes me worry that he has a chronic injury.

They’re probably trying to find ways to make Bulaga last through the entire season. Since he’s a seasoned vet, you just have to hope he can make do with minimal practice time. But honestly it doesn’t look good right now.

Head coach Brandon Staley said that Bulaga would be able to play if they were preparing for a real game.

Staley said Rumph is dealing with a little bone bruise on his heel. The injury is not considered serious, and they’re hopeful he’s able to back at practice next week.

Staley said Slater is “feeling good” and decided to play it safe by not having him practice today.

Staley said Williams is “trending positive” and the team is hopeful they will have him back soon.

While all of the updates from the non-participants appear to be positive, they’re unclear of the severity of Reed’s injury.

What is the outlook for hip flexor strain?


How long it takes a hip flexor strain to heal depends on how severe the injury is. A mild strain can take a few weeks to heal. But a severe strain can take six weeks or more to heal, according to Summit Medical Group. Failing to rest and recover a hip flexor strain usually only results in a worse injury and greater pain at a later time.

So Staley said he didn’t want starters to play in preseason game 1 because the practice against the Niners will be more intense than a preseason game would be anyway.

And now looks like half the starters on the O line didn’t even participate in the practice against the Niners.

it seems scary..... if we were a veteran team that had just won 2 straight SB's.... and we were not changing much, I could see resting most of the guys.... but this young team is trying to learn a new offense and new defense from a new coaching staff and brand new HC..... with only 3 pre season games.... really 2 because no one plays in last pre season game....except guys who are getting cut or guys with a shot at last few roster spots....

in college they dont have pre season(like Staley has said) but they have much larger teams and actually tackle in practice..... and they start in spring...... so they are ready to play week one.....

and from reports it seems like our players need as much work as they can get.....

I still think issue is that they are not running full speed and tackling in practice like was done in Coryell days and Shotty days..... those teams were tougher and did hot have as many little injuries..... when they did have an injury, it usually happened during regular season and it was serious..... not getting hurt in practice.....

The two CBs on the play are Campbell (20) and Facyson (28). I’m pretty sure the guy trying to make the tackle is Gilman.
