If there is a deal available to pick up Brown for Williams and a non first round pick, and we DO NOT pull the trigger, the FO is basically saying we DO NOT value an NFL starting Tackle over a WR2.
    That would be completely asinine.

Again, the trade ideas were just two writers from the Athletic so they might not be very realistic. Though I do think if the chargers offered a FRP for Brown, the Ravens probably take it.

It would fill a pretty damn big need for your franchise QB.

Considering Popper said they don't want to trade him I'd say no.

The one writer for the Athletic also happens to be our beat writer so it has more teeth than if some yahoo from PFF said it.
I don't take everything he says is concrete evidence but they exercised his option for a reason.

Imo it is more likely they extend him for a lower cap. Who knows if there is a player they would like to trade for OB.

Maybe it's Nwosu but it don't look like it is MW.
Maybe they are looking to the draft for a LT that would be cheaper and easy to obtain at #13 if 4 QBs, Three WRs and two CBs and Parson go before our pick.... And Sewell as well.

That's 11 players. Maybe Rousseau goes before us as well.

Maybe they like Cosmi in a trade down. It isn't the end of the world if we don't get OB in the last year of his contract.

Orlando Brown is a pretty good, and ascending, but is not an elite OT. "Middle of the road guy" is a pretty good description.

He played for a good team, and he gets some big accolades for making some pretty good blocks in both the running and passing game. Brown has times when he gets beaten badly though. He should get some added value in that he can play both sides equally well.

He is not worth breaking the bank for. he is not worth a 1st round pick, at least not by himself. If we packaged MW ($15 mill per season) for Brown, then we would probably have to give up a 1st because of the net salary difference (Brown still has 1 year on his rookie deal). But unless he really breaks out this coming season, he is going to be getting in the $12 -15 mill per season range on his next deal. Guys like Brown tend to have a lower upper limit because of the limits on his ability to change direction.

Brown will probably never be a real weakness, but he will probably never be an elite player either.

What do you think about going after FA OT Taylor Moton? PFN thinks it’d be a good idea.

“Moton has quietly been one of the best young left tackles in all of football. I’d wager there’s very little chance that Carolina lets him walk, but if there is a scenario where he hits the open market, the Chargers should be the first call he sees on his phone. Adding a premier left tackle via free agency or the draft needs to be priority No. 1 for Los Angeles. The Chargers cannot go into next season with Sam Tevi or Trey Pipkins as their top options to protect Herbert’s blindside. They simply must improve there and adding a player of Moton’s caliber in free agency would be a home run. Moton has outstanding length and athleticism for the position and his ability to mirror and slide against speed rushers is excellent. He generates good movement in the running game, playing with good leverage and showing good power in his hips and lower half. At just 26 years of age, Moton would give the Chargers a franchise offensive tackle for the next five or so years.”

I’d like that as much as Orlando.
Our quarterback is a golden god.

FWIW, PFF gives Brown a rating of 73.6...

...and BTW, since Brown is going public and requesting a trade because he wants to play LT, isn't that similar to King complaining about not getting enough PT? Brown doesn't sound like a TT kind of guy...

Market for decent LT’s is up a little IMO, maybe 15-20mil?

                    Thank you.
We are LT starved so this forum gets excited when someone comes available.
Baltimore willing to trade him says a lot.

Good OTs are hard to come by and they do not have to trade him while in the last year of his deal but are probably hoping someone offers a stupid trade offer so they can draft another RT.

I would not give up a first round pick for him. My offer was a third and Hayward or Tillery,..... not MW.

I'd rather use our first on a OT and it's very possible. Even trading back a little and landing Cosmi since I'm not a fan of Darrisaw.
