LSU WR Ja’Marr Chase got today’s pro days sessions off to a great start with an elite performance at the Tigers’ on-campus workout. Chase measured in as a sculpted 6-0.5, 201-pounder and then ripped off leaps of 41-inches in the vertical and 11-0 in the LJ. He then posted a 4.38 40 clocking and was literally even quicker in the agility drills in which he had times of 3.98 seconds in the SS and 7-flat in the 3-cone. By comparison, no WR was under 4.0 seconds in the short shuttle at the 2020 combine; indeed only a couple were even under 4.2. If there was one small chink in Chase’s day it was that his arms are a little shorter than teams would like at just under 31 inches.

Fellow WR Terrace Marshall also reportedly had a terrific day with a 4.38 40 time that matched Chase’s clocking. Mrashall was also bigger than Chase at 6-2.5 and 205 pounds with 33-inch arms, however, he wasn’t quite as super athletic as he posted ‘only’ a 39-inch vertical and 10-5 LJ. Still, awfully good though. So was unheralded LSU WR Racey McBath (6-2.5, 217, 32-inch arms) who actually ran a 4.34 40, although his agility drill times (4.50 in the SS and 7.36 in the 3-cone) weren’t all that impressive.

OLB Jabril Cox was also hoping to blow things up today, but wasn’t able to work out because of a hamstring issue. However, he did measure in at 6-3, 232 with 32.5-inch arms. Two other LSU back seven guys, though, were able to work out and worked out well. Safety JaCoby Stephens, for example, measured in at 6-1, 212 with 32-inch arms and was clocked in the 4.50 area in the 40, while CB Kary Vincent was really fast running in the mid 4.35 range after measuring in at 5-10, 185, but with only 30-inch arms. Vincent also only posted 8 reps in the BP. No such problem for massive NT Tyler Shelvin, who measured in at 6-2, 350 with 33.5-inch arms and 10-inch hands, but only ran in the 5.40 for the 40.
Chase is sic....Burrows has been lobbying for him at #5...maybe the front office listens. I see you, Penei...

Dude’s metrics look legit. Also punted for his team, averaging 42 yards per. Would somebody please invent a 4th down trick play for this guy?

          Anyone in on Cox?
Guy moves every direction really well. Very versatile piece to have on D, especially opposite James.
          Some time in day 2?

Big dude put up some great numbers today. Could be another late round OT gem.

JOK...solid agility numbers after adding some weight to his frame...no 40? No big deal...he plays plenty fast. Just a hunch of mine that he is in the mix at #13. Wouldn't break my heart, great prospect.

                  Good numbers for Tremble.
Eichenberg short arms. RT or OG?
Banks came in a little lighter.. Good deal.
Shelvin came in a tad fatter lol.

Cox has always been back further in mind. Just not sure we looking for another LB but he does fit in what JOK could do. Could be those two on the radar or a safety who I think fits better for us.

Hainsey even more nimble though he has short arms but he would make a good OG...maybe a fill in RT but I assume Pip will get that nod.

Position flexibilty is a huge plus with Hainsey.
He even looked like a Center in Mobile.
