This isn't Ballmer buying the Clippers.
    Get outta here.

So the plan all along was to look for buyer in 2024. Dea doesn’t want to wait. She wants her money now and the others don’t have it. If this only about timing (2021 v 2024), sell it now. Otherwise, they’ll be twisting in the wind for the next few years like they were the last few years in San Diego. The LA move was all about increasing the value of the team and Dea wants to realize that now and get debt relief.

Spanos has no fans in LA. Who is going to buy season tickets? This is now a money losing franchise. Not to many people in the world could screw the Golden Goose like the Spanii did.
Now, if you excuse me, I have some Charger memories to suppress.
      The Wasted Decade is done.

Whoa... had to stop working to sit with this.
macro sized things to consider that frankly are above my head
on the surface this instantly looks like a positive
but like all complicated matters, it was quickly turn to be the worst thing ever, in some way/shape/form any of us may not be able to see
just when I started feeling comfortable with the moves the Spanos have made, it can all change.
I don’t see a different owner can be worse, but I suppose it’s possible
Im also conflicted about them coming back home if that’s part of it.
looking forward to following this thread and reading posts from the handful of you who are more familiar with the world of business and strategy
        heres hoping for the best
        G-Ro knows.

The Spanos family has owned the LA Chargers since 1984 when the late Alex Spanos purchased 60% ownership of the team. Since then, ownership has been passed...

"Dean vowed to try and find new owners in 2024."

I expect The Family to own LAC in 2025 and beyond.

Why would we expect that living in a different zip code would give Dean more business acumen, gravitas, common sense, whatever?

I understand my opinion of the Spanii is through the media - so a very small telescope. But I have always thought being gifted the team and not having to work for anything made him a terrible business person. Now Jerrah in Texas - that guy has some gonads to make a deal. Spanos - none of either the acumen or gonads to make a deal.

Again, thats just looking at the decisions he has made as an observer. I mean, the guy had Jim Steeg on staff and yet hired Mark Fabiani to "build a stadium" - wink wink. Now I know teh city was a cluster, the city council, mayor, all of it - was a cluster. But Dean was and probably still is a cluster as a business person. So him not having money, not a surprise.

As Kevin Acee used to say, Dean was born on third base and couldn’t score

I have read as the oldest child in a Greek family, Dean was top of the list to inherit the team. I do not think he worked at a food truck like his Dad did selling sandwiches to the workers and moved on to apartments, etc that Alex did

Its obvious instead of being gifted the team - Dean should have been given a Subway (or just a franchise) to run - learn basic business, have some skin in the game, hire, fire etc. Dean - anytime I see him he has this perplexed look on his face. Very obtuse, dense, not smart is the way I see him

                      Bezos ?
Cannot hold a candle to Daniel Snyder.
Maybe we can get the next Jimmy Haslam...tenth try is the winner.

                      Oh man !!

of course Brees... maybe that's why we saw many Chargers references when his retirement was announced? it was like he spent his whole career with the Chargers.
