Coaches I was most excited about when they came to the Chargers:

1. Don Coryell
2. Bobby Ross
3. Mike Mccoy (sorry! I was so wrong)

Coach I am most excited about after he was hired, admitting I knew nothing about him prior to listening to him after being hired:

1. Brandon Staley

Coach I said "Oh no, please no. Not him!" but then grew to love:

1. Marty Schottenheimer

Coaches I just said the "oh no, please not him" part to

1. Norv Turner
2. Kevin Gilbride
3. June Jones (interim, thankfully turned the full time job DOWN)
4. Dan Henning

Coaches I said who? to:

1. Mike Riley
2. Anthony Lynn
3. Al Saunders

The others were largely before my time, even though I am old.

Though I'm really looking forward to this season, and Staley does get you excited, I'm taking the Mahomes approach - I'll see it when I believe it. For all we know, Staley is a really good position coach and coordinator but sucks as a head coach. Happens frequently in the NFL.

Kind of a bullshit statement by Mahomes....He saw it the first time we played them last year when they won it with their kicker ONLY! He saw the chiefs get manhandled when he was sitting on the sidelines. He's in Denial! LOL!

Mahomie is going through the early part of the 5 Stages of Charger Comeback Grief:

1. Denial: He just can't accept the fact that Bolts are back...
2. Anger: He'll soon be angry the Bolts are back...
3. Bargaining: Later on this season, he'll concede the Bolts are back, and be okay with them making the playoffs, as long as the Chefs beat them, even barely...
4. Depression: He gets majorly bummed out when the Bolts beat the Chefs in the playoffs...
5. Acceptance: Mahomie grudgingly accepts the Bolts are back, and are SB champs...he finally becomes a "Bolt Believer."

I agree mostly with your list except for Marty. I absolutely loved the hire and was not for his dismissal at all.

I did not like the Norv hire, but he did much better than I thought he would, although those were some very talented and well balanced rosters that he coached early on.

Don't forget Gus' brilliant game planning holding us back as well. Keystone cops Special teams as an added bonus for our opposition last season. Chiefs will not have the benefits of these added miscues.

I loved the hire too - he had taken two complete shit clubs and turned them into winners. He did the exact same here. He’s aces in my book always, fuck it that he choked the big games, I’ve reconciled my emotions

i think we cant be worse than what we had. The D scheme will be tougher to pinpoint so will make things tougher for all QBs to read presnap. ST i have no clue but god it just cant be worse than the awful blocking crap on punts and missed fgs.

As much as I would like to, I really have a hard time believing Mahomes was denigrating Herbert. Probably taken out of context. Or maybe he said something after have a few beers. Can you imagine being hounded and having microphones shoved in your face every time you had a couple to see if you said something stupid?

I don’t like the Chiefs but Mahomes has been nothing but a good kid so far.
