I read some of those comments, and to be honest, I can sympathize with fans of the Chargers being jaded -- whether it's about coach in particular or just discontent regarding the Chargers organization in general. Arguably, we haven't had a complete package team playing exciting football since the mid-to-late 2000s (2004-2010 in particular). Personally, I walked away from this team after the 2010 season because it looked like it was all ready to fall apart -- if not enter a total rebuild. I watched maybe a couple of games every season after. I only came back full board in 2020 because I saw Herbert, judged his demeanor, watched his whole Combine workout prior to us drafting him and came away impressed -- I was excited when we drafted him because he legitimately opens us up to play an exciting brand of football again. For most of the mainstream fans to truly start believing again, we have to play an exciting and dominant brand of football on either side of the ball (preferably both) that takes us deep into the playoffs or at least affords us a substantial competitive advantage to be above the 11-win mark in the regular season, almost every season.

Can’t gain competitive edge with only hitting on first round picks and taking 3-4 years to develop later picks ( if they do reach starting caliber, they walk via free agency). Then half your free agents go down or impaired with injuries. Knock a few superstars out that tie up chunks of cap there is virtually no wiggle room.

Back to Staley, his shtick is getting old. Loyalties, standing pat then not adjusting quicker to change will eventually cost him his job.

This guy is obviously losing the locker room.

Plenty of NFL teams have quit on the season facing the adversity we faced. I was losing faith in Staley. Not only did the team keep playing hard, but his defense is looking fierce.

I think even skeptics acknowledge he’s held the locker room and then some. I’m not seeing those posts. Its all about Lombo now. I’d be in favor of an upgrade next year for Lombo, just to clarify misunderstandings about my optimism. I just disagree we cannot win with him or that he didn’t also face significant roster injury challenges that have hampered his options. We’ve won 9 so far …

Folks want Herbie to throw it deeper. Fair enough in abstract. Some games Herbie flat out didn’t have time. Others there should have been some more shots. On Monday I saw herbie looking deep at least a half dozen times but not find someone to throw to. Can’t see All-22 to know what was going on but those were all checked down to an unacceptable underneath receiver. I trust Herbie’s vision of the play better than TPBs, thats just me.

Some games, some plays, there should be some more at least mid-level attacking past the first zone layer. Thats where I’d focus if I were him. He got it a few more times than usual to mid-level routes between the zone layers, he can do more.

I am more interested in how often do we have 2, 3 or more receivers in the same zone quadrant on top of each other, making it easy to defend the whole group. That shouldn’t be happening except briefly in rub routes or clear-out routes. Was it actually the play design, was it players running the wrong assignment, was it just misunderstood, what was it and how often does it really happen?

It occurs to me that this team will have two trap games in a row before the playoffs, this is a great test for our Head Coach. If he is a good to great HC he will not let his team stub their toe headed down the stretch.

I am surprised at all the whiners and criers over that play. Especially when they had no comment and intentionally did not call out the Colts player that hit helmet to helmet with Kelley. Clear bias and a nothing burger.

                          Everyone! LFG!

'l Can Handle The Smoke Staley' wants to win at the LOS. The draft, trade and free agency moves align with trench warfare style to allow your weapons freedom to make big plays offensively, defensively and on special teams. He has spoken into existence having a clean operation on the field and the effort needed to perform at a high level. He is getting them to express his vision and do work great on the field.
There will only be one team that gets the Trophy. Why not us!
The man is so confident in who he is and what he is doing that he just showed the whole football world his Marjariasana.
