Is Staley clueless, a liar, or just trying to duck criticism?

After the Denver game Staley was asked — since the Chargers never ruled Williams out — if he could have returned to the game. Staley answered, “possibly.”

At the start of the week, Staley said Williams would practice at “some point” in the lead-up to the game. Instead, Williams was held out both Wednesday, Thursday, and Friday.

The only thing he’s accomplishing is people losing trust in anything he says.

The first one was equivocation. Possibly is a lack of an answer, not a lie.

the second one is a future guess - hardly a lie to expect he would practice at some point after medical staff came back and said it was just contusions and nothing more structural.

you guys are mad, obviously. The majority of you mad guys wanted the team to play before the game, and are now just back-seat hyper-criticizing exactly how many plays was the exact precise perfect number in hindsight after having the benefit of watching exactly what happened.

Ok, whatever, we get it. I don’t think any of us Staley fans think that every decision he has made was perfect. We agree on that, we disagree on the magnitude and overal cost-benefit calculation of having his as our HC. trust us that we heard y’all and respect your perspectives.

But now its time to let it rest, BTFU, and get back to fully supporting your team. We got a game to play so LFG - Nuts on the counter, the Lopper will be making the rounds …

Or maybe, he is just reacting to info as he receives it. If the original report that the injury was back spasms, he could possibly have returned to the game. After the medical exams revealed no significant damage, it could have been possible that he returned to practice. Or maybe he knows there is almost no chance that Mike will play and wants to make the Jags spend time preparing for it as if he did.

The only thing we do know is that he will be criticized here for it no matter what the reason for the comments.

BS just mismanaged MW situation. The general understanding will be he has lied / not said the whole true.

But he is clueless in such moments not the first time he has not managed the situation right - thats why he has not got it to be a HC, yes I know he is learning...

I have thought his arrogance was going to be his biggest detriment. I mean, its one thing to have a process - but at times, need to evolve and be a bit more flexible

It was stupid that he kept his starters in the game after the score was 14-7. It was stupid to not have more WRs and Stick active for that game. If he was watching the Bengals Ravens game - it was obvious the Bengals were never threatened. That said, there should have been other players to play. Run the ball - who cares if you get outscored by 50.

All coaches mislead and withhold information until a league rule mandates they disclose it. Playing possum on injury reports is as old as the injury reporting process itself. We shouldn’t be butt-hurt about his public information manipulation, our opponents are listening too and the more unsure they are, the better.

Playing all the key starters v Denver … well, I was early to warn on that one. Retracing threads, I wasn’t alone and will stop yelling at everyone.

he’d be fired here for sure, i still don’t think there’s any chance he’s fired by this FO and ownership though. They liked him before he got the team to the playoffs. I was wrong about Mdub, but nobody knew he had some sort of hairline fracture not detected. so who knows.

Further tests have revealed a break in bis back. Williams is out for weeks and with him the hope of playing with the Chiefs if they get by this first game.

The coach who makes the awful decisions was also full of shit when he said Williams could have gone back in the game. FFS the guy couldnt walk.

The thing about playing the starters so long Sunday - I just want to know why
If you wanted to see the offense get some reps - well, they scored two touchdowns on three drives and the middle drive, Williams might have been held on a pass, incomplete and they punted - so the offense SHOWED UP

After that, what was to be proven by playing key players in a game that meant nothing, And the players knew the outcome so wewre they going to be focused. As I think it was Pipkins that rolled up on Williams
