And who can the Chargers pick up right now to strengthen that unit?Originally posted by Den60 View PostI haven't posted squat on the state of the Chargers this offseason. But, they had a lot of holes to fill just on the o-line alone and they haven't done much there. I'm not thinking the Franklin signing is all that and a box of chocolates.
Problem is, there isn't an instant impact free agent that is going to help immediately. The one signing someone suggested so far is a guy the Raiders drafted that is potential only.
If you're going to sign free agents, the need to have an immediate impact. Otherwise you are better off waiting for the draft.sigpic

No, the problem is they can go grab a guy standing outside of The Home Depot which would have strengthened that unit. Given all the holes that need to be filled I don't think you can expect to do it via the draft and make this team better than what it was last year. If you want to keep Rivers happy then you have to improve the o-line and give him a running back to take some of the pressure off him and the passing game. I'm not sure where Franklin fits in, RT or LG? As a guard he wasn't very good and as a RT he struggles with edge rushers. If we draft for the o-line again in the first couple of rounds then that means we don't fill holes we have on defense.Originally posted by floydefisher View PostAnd who can the Chargers pick up right now to strengthen that unit?

Like I've said, this team seems to be stalled at the .500 mark and has been for some time. Not good enough to win the Superbowl but not bad enough to be able to draft difference makers. We probably hover around .500 again this year. If Rivers leaves then I think you really have to start thinking more towards the future than the present.

I agree Franklin struggles at RT vs speed rushers ( so has DJ). I strongly disagree with your opinion that he was not very good playing guard. As to "not bad enough to draft difference makers.....This isn't the NBA draft. Difference makers are found in every round and undrafted.Originally posted by Den60 View PostNo, the problem is they can go grab a guy standing outside of The Home Depot which would have strengthened that unit.
