Pass happy clock eating drives are ok, but a clock eating run game average better than 3.1 ypg will be needed. Defenses will be anticipating the pass when all you get is 2 or 3 yards on a final clock eating drive. This team has to get some first downs on the ground, not just thru the air. The running game has yet to turn the corner after countless years. Also, the last time the Chargers ran it in inside the 5 with regularity was when Melvin Gordon was here, who by the way ran for over 100 yards yesterday.

To be fair, the 3.1 yard average includes the kneel downs at the end of the game, not that 3.46 without them is that much better.

A clever passing scheme does and should help setup the run game. So far it’s been opposing defenses saying “Nope, let’s get ready to defend another obvious pass attempt.” Going to the well too often will have its consequences at some critical point, either 4th down or a turnover.

We may have done it years ago with LT or Means running for first downs ..... but I cannot recall the Chargers having a coach who would "allow" his QB to throw passes to march play after play after play for first downs..... the last several Chargers coaches(all the way back to Marty) would have run 3 times or maybe 2 runs and a screen pass ....then punted ball back to the opponent..... giving the opponent the chance to march down for the win......

This coaching staff actually wants to WIN games by taking it to the other team instead of praying for the other team to give you the game.....

key is the next game against a weaker defense, we will likely reveal the deeper passing game...... so defenses will have to prepare for the dink and dunk as well as the 50 yard bomb.......... that will start to open up the run more......

I'll take the unstoppable passing game, TYVM.

3.5 YPC against that D isn't bad either.

Chargers have yet to defend bomb happy teams like happened in some of yesterday’s games. We’ll probably see some of that against Dallas. Swami sees PI’s on bombs this Sunday.

I know this has been mentioned before, but I want to emphasize it.
This was a THREE TIME ZONE ROAD WIN.

                  Three time zones.

                  Jet lag is huge.
And with that jet lag, the Chargers dominated.

Yes he certainly did run for over 100. Other than the long touchdown run he was 3 yards a carry on his other 10 carries. I think they will face him out in the second half of the year in favor of the rookie
