I guess the NFL is concerned people might start gambling on their games.

Yeah, like that doesnt happen ANYWHERE else already, lol. Good reason! Vegas gets a bad rap from the asswipes in the NFL. It was Vegas who reported the crooked Ref in the NBA for gambling on games.

If the NFL moved into Vegas, casino owners wouldn't be the shadiest rich dudes in the city anymore.

That's a bit over dramatic, lightning. I think that stuff has dulled your outlook. The city stands to make gains on a new stadium, so its only fair that they pay their share. Revenue for this deal will come from 4 places; the NFL, the Chargers, the City of SD and the County of SD. Everyone in the mix will reap the benefits of a new facility in the long run. Short sighted-ness will leave everyone on the outside looking in when it comes to attracting big revenue events. Last I heard there still isn't going to be a new or expanded convention center. Bye bye comic-con. Maybe SD can repurpose that obsolete, over priced and over the top library they built. What a joke!

Honestly im on the enjoy this season to its utmost. I think we have a legit chance at the division again. Chargers are in The Murph for probably 2 years if not 3 to build a new stadium anywhere. Id be minorly bummed if they moved (I dont live in SD anymore) but I dont think I would drop them. I have the Panthers nearby as a backup but it would be tough dropping a life long support for my Chargers....besides my tattoo incorporates a bolt on it.

Frankly im not totally convinced of the economic gain of a stadium for a local city. Upkeep, improvements later down the line, other uses of tax dollars (esp with water crisis and economy being challenged still) make me question if there is short and long term gain for a city like SD.

That said i hope they stay and work a cost effective solution out. I will enjoy the upcoming seasons regardless and root with my heart and dollar from afar.

all those things were in the mix when it was decided to build San Diego stadium in the 1st place in 1966. What's changed that elevated manageable concerns into impossible obstacles for some people?
