Tom Telesco’s Results in 9 years as Chargers GM:

    - 69-74 record
    - 0 division titles in 9 yrs as GM
    - Worst record among all active GMs with same tenure
    - 6th worst winning percentage among all active GMs overall
    - 2 playoff wins despite elite QB all 9 yrs
    - Team still has the same weaknesses (Oline and run defense) that it had when hired as GM in 2013
    - Consistently puts together horrible depth, expects starters to never miss games

I think it’s expected he won’t remain 100% conversion the whole season but honestly as long as it’s a respectable % then it’s worth doing it.

They have won games so far due to that aggression so even if they lose a few, they shouldn’t just avoid it or go away from it.

Throw insults in the trash and use facts. It makes your argument much stronger.
If you feel insulted by being referenced as "Eeyore" after a pessimistic post, then you're a little thin skinned for a football forum! You can save that kind of pouting for when someone calls you a putz, moron, a-hole, etc. But 'Eeyore'?!? <Gasp!> The indignity of it all! <faint!> No need to go all 'snowflake' on us.

The point isn't that Telesco has made tons on in-season trades. The point is that the lack of in-season trades doesn't mean the season is doomed, as you were implying. Maybe if I call you Mister Eeyore, you'll feel more respected. lol

Lynn thought Herbert should remain a backup.

Going on 4th down is building an attitude. He is not going to make them all

But if he doesn't go for it on 4th down at his 24 -the Chargers probably will be down 17 or 21 points as the Browns offense was rolling. The Chargers needed to go for it there

Its not always going to work - going on 4th down. But punting and hoping to get a stop doesn't either

Technically the Chargers do not have any extra three day picks - yet. Comp picks are not announced until like March or April of next year

That said - the Chargers should get a few picks like you said - so yet, Telesco with is cap space and draft picks - should be - and I have said in another thread

calling about Norwell from teh Jags
              possibly Brockers from the Lions
              Cannon from the Texans
Patterson from the Falcons - he is going to cost the most as his contract is dirt cheap - Falcons will probably get a 4th for him, at worst a 5th

Chargers might wait a bit, and see how things play out when Jones returns,
& Joseph still has a physical presence,
                but Covington is not someone you want to play more than 8 snaps in a game;
and although Tillery was not getting blown up, you'd prefer to rotate him in on passing downs.
The rest are literally practice squad guys.

Staley's schemes were part of the problem; at times it seemed like wedge plays where the Browns brought too many blockers for the defenders to handle

In any case, the Colts 2006 run D was horrible and they brought in Anthony McFarland via trade with Tampa who settled things down.

                Telesco, i'm sure remembers that.

It will probably take two or three unsuccessful 4rth downs, before the wailing, the gnashing of teeth, the pouring of sand over our heads.

The first unsuccessful 4rth down will get a huh? followed by an i'm good with that, soldier on reaction.

And if Lynn DID go for it on 4th down, it was usually the good old predictable "run the rock up the gut for nada"...ugh...

The team will fail on 4th down in a game this year and they might not win that game

But I think Staley is also building an attitude that going for 2 or going on 4th down is not a moment where the heart rate increases and the team might panic. This team is learning to play in those moments.
