I hope we don’t lose a game later in the season with playoff implications because of staying over patient with him.
Even his makes seem lucky because their barely inside the goal posts.Tom Telesco’s Results in 9 years as Chargers GM:
- 69-74 record
- 0 division titles in 9 yrs as GM
- Worst record among all active GMs with same tenure
- 6th worst winning percentage among all active GMs overall
- 2 playoff wins despite elite QB all 9 yrs
- Team still has the same weaknesses (Oline and run defense) that it had when hired as GM in 2013
- Consistently puts together horrible depth, expects starters to never miss games

Watching SNF and the Chiefs kicker Butker nails a 54 yarder in heavy wind…and Vizcaino can’t make extra points in the dome smh.Tom Telesco’s Results in 9 years as Chargers GM:

If I recall, the ball was kicked to one side, and kind of hung up there, giving the coverage team more time to get down.
As far as Long goes, I don't recall if he got hurt because of that. But generically, kicking and punting requires different skills and muscles. The sequencing is all different too. I think the concern was that it is a fair amount of workload for 1 player. Kickers and punter are all about going out, being as explosive as possible on 5 -10 plays per game. If it starts to become a endurance/conditioning thing, because they have a 2x or 3x workload, then there is a good chance that you cold tweek a muscle, and that shit lingers.

Yes, the last few kickoffs were out of the end zone, so you could see that the instructions changed.

Get rid of him so he can become a Pro Bowl kicker somewhere else?
Staley is right. He's young. Develop him.
He has the leg just needs the mechanics worked on.
Mike McCoy and Anthony Lynn are no longer here.
Staley is Gawd.

I know this won’t happen/never happens, but why not offer a bad team a late round pick for their kicker? Graham Gano is having a good year for a 1-4 Giants team going nowhere, why not trade him if you’re the Giants.

The catch is do you think if the situation demanded a kick late in the game with very little or no time, do you trust Viz to make it? Do you trust anyone else on that list? Presumably some of the older guys on the list have the consistency (or did) but you have to wonder what is each guys deal. Long can handle the KO if necessary, he did when he filled in for Bagley.
There is also the thought of having Long do the kicking and punting. I am not sure it would be any better than Viz, but at least it would be the advantage of saving a roster spot, particularly if the "other" kicker isn't much of an improvement and you would have to do roster shuffling.
Sometimes the misses are due to the hold or snap. I didn't see anything obvious today, but watching the all-22 from KC (both kicks), there was no problem with either the hold or snap on either play.
Viz just got around the ball too much, and it went off to the left. Same thing happened today, although the all-22 film doesn't come out for another day or two to be sure.
