    Correct.

It is the wider hips, but also the pressures of that. Puts greater stress on the knee ligaments.

Been coaching HS basketball for 20 years now, and female acl tears lead males by about a 5 to 1 ratio.
    (And that may be low)

What kind of exercises - or areas to strengthen - would be called for with girls that play sports like soccer and basketball? Would squats be a helpful injury preventative exercise?

      And that's a mind-blowing statistic.
      For Stinky-Jon-Wizzleteats....

My daughter's surgeon says he gets 3-1 girls over guys for ACLs. In the past 3 years, 4 of the 19 girls on my daughter's team have had them, but I think that is on the high side for soccer teams.

Hell, you can probably rent it yourself for $200-300 for a couple of weeks.

Are girls given the same access to strength and conditioning as boys? I'm not being critical of you coach.....I just wonder if there is the same focus put on strengthening leg muscles

Girls have the same access, but don't use as much.

I will say this, I see less now boys and girls than I did 10 years ago.
