I am really high on this kid, but... Nate Kaeding looked great in camp and in regular season games too...

Example of "Risk is high" argument. Reality is that very few kickers choke as badly as Nate Kaeding did as a Charger. (queue up new Kaeding thread)

"Risk is too high to NOT keep Lambo" argument - Whenever a kickoff doesn't go through the end zone, there's a chance the other side might run it back. We can't have that!
      Prediction:
      Correct: Chargers CI fails miserably.
Fail: Team stays in San Diego until their lease runs out in 2020. (without getting new deal done by then) .
Sig Bet WIN: The Chargers will file for relocation on January 15.

They really have to put Lambo through the paces the next two games. If he nails all of his opportunities it's a no brainer IMO.

Not just the games, but start doing it in practice too. It's not nearly the same, but it does help with testing the consistency thing.

I don't think a team can afford to get too attached to kickers and punters. Once they get into their mid 30's, if you happen to find a replacement, you better jump on it. You just don't know how long the kicker will last and be able to keep playing at a high level. Plus, potentially Lambo could be our kicker for the next 10-15 years, if he is in fact the "guy".

I'd keep him just for the name. Lambo's seen a lot of green and gold championships. Bout time we had a winner.

That logic is like watching a Bruce Li movie.

One possibility - Novak goes on the short season (8 game?) IR due to his injury last night and the team gives Lambo an extended audition. This is how to hedge a risk!

On the other hand, they may need that IR slot (teams only get one) for another position...see Williams, Tourek.

At the end of camp, Lambo will be boasting this:

Just heard Lambo in a PC. He came to the Chargers specifically because of the kickoff problem, and so he thinks he has a shot at getting a job.

Josh Lambo on why he chose Chargers as undrafted FA: "I thought this was the best opportunity to land a job ... with the kickoff issue."
