    Lambo

Anyone else think the kicking job is now a battle?

I was just wondering that. If we don't keep him, somebody will snap him up.

I hate to say it, because I really still like Novak, but I am finding myself rooting for Lambo to win the job.

Easily yes. Young stud with a big leg and deadly accuracy? Novak is 34.

I really like Lambo. But I'd understand if the staff sticks with Novak.
          But I like Lambo.

Lambo caught my attention. We have a competition. He's got a live leg and natural leg talent.

            OVERVIEW
Signed a Generation Adidas contract at age 15 and joined the USA Residency Program in Bradenton, Fla. Trained under Everton FC and U.S. National Team goalkeeper Tim Howard in 2006. Drafted eighth overall in the 2008 Major League Soccer draft by FC Dallas. Never made his MLS debut and was waived by Dallas in 2011. Texas A&M offered him a spot after seeing a training video Lambo sent to colleges. Kicked game-winner in 2013 on the road against Ole Miss. Departs Texas A&M as the most accurate kicker in school history, making 21 of 25 attempts (83.3 percent), including a long of 50 yards in 2014. Won national Punt, Pass and Kick contest at age 10.
            ANALYSIS
STRENGTHS Has background in soccer of making goal kicks for accuracy and distance. Accurate kicker. Gets instant elevation on kicks and hits it end over end. Has adequate leg strength to improve kickoff distance as a pro.
WEAKNESSES Will turn 25 years old in November. Lacks kicking experience. Attempted just 25 field goals over two-year span in Texas A&M's touchdown-heavy offense. Kicked off just twice last season, with neither kick resulting in a touchback.
DRAFT PROJECTION Round 6 or 7
BOTTOM LINE Has good size. Shows the consistency and relative accuracy of an NFL kicker. Lambo lacks big-kick experience by league standards and doesn't have many field goal attempts and kickoffs on tape to evaluate, but his leg talent gives him a legitimate shot to make a team.
Now, if you excuse me, I have some Charger memories to suppress.
            The Wasted Decade is done.

Do you go with a young Justin Tucker type kid or stick with an old kicker who struggles to kick touchbacks? I just think Lambo could end up being a gem. He was the #2 ranked PK this draft. Accurate like Novak but also can drill the ball deep.

                Any chance we keep both?

I realize we have great needs at WR,LB, and DB but Lambo would be huge on kick offs.

My guess? Lambo gets cut and signed by someone else and plays for 12 years at pro bowl level. Because Chargers.

Given TT's stance on Weddle, I don't think he'll be too hesitant to let the vet go if they all think the rook is better in the long run.

Go with the kid if you think he can handle it. The long kickoffs are vital to defensive success and we will need every bit of help we can get on defense.

It would be cool to keep him but if we really think we're SB contenders, do we want a rookie PK? Obviously, by then he wouldn't be a rookie per se having played 18 or 19 weeks of NFL ball.
