Ratings for this Wild Card weekend were better than last season. So I don't think they change the format for a while, but we may have stinkers if the wild card teams are marginal. I do think the bye is worth it for the #1 seeds, and too much benefit for the #2 seed.
Not that the games with the 7th seed have been that good these first two years... but I agree with you - earning the bye is a big time reward for the top seed. Before, it was two teams. I like that its only one team that earns it
I hope they do not go to 8 teams - but 7 is fine for now

The playoffs would be better with just one wildcard team, let the No. 1 seed have the bye and the 2-5 seeds from each conference battle it out on wildcard weekend. You wouldn't have had the Eagles, Raiders and Steelers in the playoffs. The 49ers wouldn't be in either, and they are the one wildcard team that is actually pretty decent. The games would be more what you expect from playoff football, not as one-sided (Of course both top wildcard seeds were blown out this season.) But I know it will never happen. The NFL is all about money. The quality of the game is secondary.
From Least to Most: Which teams I want going to and winning the SB
1. Chiefs - Can't stand them. Don't want Mahomes or Kelce getting ring #2
2. Bengals - I'd rather Herbert get to and win a SB before Burrow
3. Rams - Not interested in seeing the Rams cash in on their big moves
4. Bills - I'm fine if they get to the SB and lose, in keeping with their acronym. Otherwise Herbert before Allen
5. 49ers - Meh. Maybe Nick getting a ring will further motivate Joey
6. Bucs - At this point, if the Bucs repeat, I'm fine with it. Small consolation if it irks Bill B
7. Titans - The only AFC team I really have nothing against
8. Packers - If winning a SB keeps Rodgers in GB and out of Denver, I'm here for it
Tennessee and Wisconsin have had a rough one and one of them could do with a W.

Here's my list:
1. Tampa Bay: God no!....another year of the GOAT
2. Kansas City: fan base and team leave much to be desired....miserable piles of human excrement comes to mind
3. 49ers: no Super Bowl victory for at least the next 100 years for this franchise
4. Bengals: with you on Burrow
5. Bills: nice humble city
6. Titans: another nice city
7. Rams: showing up the Spanos is always great fun, but i grew up rooting for the Rams during the Savare/Protho years,& will be rooting for Weddle to get that ring.
8. Green Bay: team owned by the fan base
So I am truly interested to see if the offensive juggernaut that is the Buffalo Bills can go into KC and do the same thing there. I honestly have to admit that I would love to see them stomp the Chiefs 45 - 10 or something like that.
Nick Bosa cleared to play. I m no doctor and obviously have no direct inside information. But it sure seems like star players (Bosa this year and Mahomes last) heal from concussions remarkably fast in the post season. Most players miss a couple games from this.
Also there have been zero Covid related issues since the playoffs started. Maybe its because everyone already had it, but seems interesting

I think the NFL must have quietly suspended the Covid rules for the playoffs. Also, guys are ready to play quicker in the post season because you’re not saving them for anything. It’s do or die
