Oh I get it, Bolt-O. Just doesn’t say much for the quality of NFL players if a guy who retired 2 years ago and hasn’t practiced for years gets signed and then actually plays in a playoff game. EIther Weddle is a freak or the safety crop is total crap.

They signed Weddle because they know him, he’s played for them before and apparently he was in good enough physical shape. He knows the position better than a lot of younger more athletic guys and sometimes that matters more

I don’t see NFL changing the format back to 6 teams per conference either. #7 this year weren’t good teams. #6’s weren’t very good either. Both #5’s got curbstomped. Only 1 WC team won, so the theory can be expanded to eliminate all WC teams?

Naw - let them play - if #2-#4 are really better they will go beat the WC teams and earn their right to continue. And on occasion a 49er type squad will knock out a division winner thats really a fraud. As noted, it makes a lot more games a lot more important at the end of the season - thats entertainment!

Ratings for this Wild Card weekend were better than last season. So I don't think they change the format for a while, but we may have stinkers if the wild card teams are marginal. I do think the bye is worth it for the #1 seeds, and too much benefit for the #2 seed.
