it's not just the Niners though. Teams start their injured starters all the time over the healthy guy even if the backup is pretty good.
Not sure I understand it sometimes depending on the situation but that's what they do. I understand playing Garrapolo over Lance but next year he should be taking over.
I'd think anyways. They did trade up to get him.

Thought the Bengals did a poor job of play calling. Could have avoided most of those sacks and had more positive plays with more short passes and screens. Should have used Chase more in a Deebo Samuel role as well. The Titans corners couldn't tackle him on on one. Could have dumped the ball of to Mixon on some of them as well to at least save sacks.
It should have been clear from the git go the O Line was overmatched and they weren't going to be able to throw deep.
What a great pick drafting their kicker in the 5th. If there was one rated as high coming out this year I would take him in the 4th, (maybe even the 3rd)?
If punting is almost as important as kicking then I'm on board with Araiza in the 4th.
