I had dinner during the week with a good friend of mine who is a retired NFL OC. He believes McCoy is the real deal and that the Bolts would be crazy to let him go. In his opinion, McCoy (moreso than Whiz) revived Rivers' career, and given time he will build a consistent winner. Is he right? I don't know, but I know he knows a heck of a lot more than I do and knows and still talks to a lot of people on the "inside".

I don't know that he sucks, and I don't know that he's great.

I'm not ready to fire him, but I'm also not ready to give him credit for anything other than not being Norv.

My judgment of Telesco is also not yet made.
      Pretty much that. ^^^

Really matters what happens on the field and today we were man-handled.

And yet the game was decided by them making a play or two more than us. A few less penalties, not dropping an uncontested punt, Verrett droping an int that was in his hands - make any of those plays and we could have won. But we didn't so we lost.

Of course not but this junk being thrown out when we lost a close game we were predicted to is just dumb.
          Please read the original post.

It's not about being 1-1 or the loss today. It's about the same style of play and issues that plague this team whether it's Marty, Norv or McCoy.

          Legacy issues.

I mean people around here pretty much expect our lines to get dominated. It's almost the culture of being a Chargers fan. And that's sad to me.

I did read the OP and I repeat - ridiculous overreaction. Perhaps you expect a 3rd string guard who has never played the position before ever in his life to come out and play like an all-pro but that is utterly unrealistic. The Bengals made one fewer mistake/one more play than we did and won a close game at home.

Do you watch any other games? Same kind of shit from other good teams happens. Its early in the season. New England almost lost to Buff by allowing 21 and almost 28 in the last quarter plus of play. No team is perfect...THAT is the NFL to a T.

Give our coaches and players time to gel. I think we have special talent...perfect no but when we can take Cincy to the wire in their house and just lose I daresay we earned some respect today despite the loss.

              Move on to next week.

We didn't have bad line play the last few years under Marty.

Rarely. Sometimes I'm forced into seeing the Cardinals because the bar is showing them right next to San Diego's game.

Cardinals fans love their coaching staff. They managed to make the playoffs last year with a 4th-string quarterback, who, from the little I saw, was quite possibly the worst NFL quarterback in the history of ever.

Wasn't just him...we were getting overwhelmed all across the OL.

                      Even worse than Ryan Leaf?

They made the playoffs because of their record before Palmer got hurt. People ignore the talent level that Arians had coming into his job compared to what McCoy had.

That's what I'm hoping for. I didn't expect our o-line to start the season great. But this week we saw what can happen with poor o-line play - poor d-line play. Because poor o-line play can keep the defense on the field too long. That is a bad combination to have on gameday.
