Unless you are a young Polamalu, Ed Reed or Sean Taylor, you are not an impact player at safety. Certainly not at 30+ years of age. And definitely not at the salary he thinks he deserves.

Why are we wringing our hands over this? Our major issues on defense lie elsewhere.

He's simply not. He HAS been a good player on a relatively below average defense which makes him stand out a bit. But he is not a game changer. I would love to keep him for the simple fact that it would create one less hole but not at the salary he wants. Use that money on DL and pass rush and even Stuckey will do ok back there.
