The team will wait until OTAs are over before saying anything definitive.

The coaches will get a look at Salyer first hand, and see what he can do against pro competition. They're being cautious in what they're saying now.

To my untrained eye, Salyer looks like he could be a RT, but if so, the team isn't letting on. At least... not now.

What a godsend *that* would be, if Salyer stepped in at RT and was "the answer"!

    • I saw a recent opinion indicating Salyer was getting by on natural talent for GA at tackle but probably isnt the best in movement and technical ability yet to be a tackle immediately at the nfl level. Hes a stronger fit at guard now. Maybe he can learn quick and get there but i doubt hes a plug and play RT right now. Throw him in the and see what he can learn though.

      • A lot of very limited athletes have gotten by and had great NFL careers, mainly at OG and C, but some at OT. The big thing is regardless of position, the technique is the most important quality and players who are sloppy get beaten badly and often. Even average pass rushers can defeat a guy who has technical flaws.

        • Every time I re-watch the Bulldogs-Tide bowl game, I am reminded that 1st Quarter under Bennett IV at QB was about as shaky as could possibly be and the offensive line - under captain Jamaree Salyer - was unphased and the team bounced back after the long strike to George Pickens and was right back in the game.

I am lovin' the Chargers new rookie guards.

          • This guy could end up being the steal of the draft. Everyone thought this guy would be gone no later than the 4th round. If Salyer has a solid work ethic plus motivated mindset there is tremendous upside here.

I admire any young man who treats his mother with such respect. Jamaree was the #1 OG in the country. #GAC

                  • Salyer, a natural big boy, not a jacked up TE, I like it.
Now, if you excuse me, I have some Charger memories to suppress.
