Of all the news this week( KA, CJ, Lynsley practicing, Bosa, Slater out long term) I think the biggest news is Salyer starting at LT. And I for one, am excited.
This kid played against the best the college football world had to offer the past 2 seasons and excelled. Granted, NFL is a different beast but hell, look at Slater! No reason kid can't succeed this week and beyond.

Salyer was a 5 star and one of best OL in country coming out of HS. He is a born OL, not a jacked up little guy. I don’t know if he’s a LT, but he is a starter somewhere on the line.
Now, if you excuse me, I have some Charger memories to suppress.

Why was Salyer available in Rd 6?

Good question - IIRC, a lot of places had him projected as a mid-round player so there is something teams had questions about.

                And sometimes scouts outsmart themselves.

I didn’t hear about any red flags. Maybe they didn’t like his height? But with LT’s being a premium and the guy playing for a national championship team, it’s surprising

Experts, scouts and all NFL draft rooms all clearly assigned the majority of credit for their NC to their defense. which, in fairness, may have been the best college defense in a generation (or more).

The rumor was he had multiple injuries in college and didn’t get them addressed with surgery.

So the question mark was durability, not talent.

I hope he makes those doubters eat crow.

Me too. When we drafted him and I saw his name and first thing I thought of was why is he still there in round 6?

Granted, thats a lot of teams passing on the same player but makes you wonder if they start thinking "well if everybody passed on him - what is WRONG with him?"

Maybe it was he played LT in college and valued as IOL.
