Van Noy is ok. He is just perhaps a better version than Tranquill who will get hurt eventually.

The fact that he has played ILB and OLB and can and might play both.
We are all guessing what we think Staley likes/wants but we don't really know and we certainly didn't have Van Noy on our lists of players to sign.

Decent signing, can help in two areas.

          You got your linebacker Sir.
We do not play modern football.

OK, first the Chargers trade a 2nd Round and two 7s for Khalil Mack to replace Nwosu and now Fackrell was replaced with Kyle Van Noy. Depth moves on defense made the 2021 Bengals playoff run possible.

              Defensive backfield
              CB Asante Samuel Jr.
              CB J.C. Jackson
              CB Bryce Callahan (FA)
              CB Michael Davis
              CB Ja'Sir Taylor (R)
              CB Deane Leonard (R)

              SS Derwin James
              SS Alohi Gilman
              FS Nasir Adderley
              FS Mark Webb
              FS JT Woods (R)

JT Woods at the #79 slot makes alot of sense. JT Woods is an athletic freak.

Sounds like someone is still smarting from that Bryce Callahan signing....

Career (8-season) totals: 28.5 sacks, 26 passes defended:

He’s not really an edge rusher. Popper is wrong in that regards and you’re right that he’s more of a ILB that is good at blitzes. He can maybe fill in as edge in an emergency but not his strong suit.

Chiefs have applied a UFA tender to Ingram...if he doesn't sign with a different team by July 22nd, he can only play for the Chiefs.

Didn't mind that signing. And don't mind this one, I've just never been a big fan of Van Noy but he can help.

Im not expecting anything big from this FA round. We are just filling depth.

Hope he signs with them. Mel is pretty much done and did nothing against us in 2 games
