he failed last season. He was supposed to make the defense better and we had Joey and Derwin practically the entire season and it wasn’t really improved.

if Staley fails again this season there is no reason to give him more opportunities when the roster by all metrics is ready to win now. He has been able to bring in his people. He will have no excuses this year if we fail. We have depth even at many positions.

I think he will succeed and win the super bowl this season but if we completely fail again you can’t give coaching a pass and hope he learns on the job. Must win now !

The defense was broken player-wise and zero depth. Once we got 2 solid starters on defense out with injuries per game the house of cards collapsed last season.
we are much better after this offseason even without Murray. Not worried about the defense at all and concerned with only injuries on offense.

Every hall of fame coach had terrible seasons. It’s more about the players than coaches. Staley had a defense that could not stop the run to save their lives last year and Bosa was a one legged guy in a butt kicking contest.

What REALLY makes a hall of fame coach? The ability to recognize what players suck and upgrade them. The aggressive overhaul Staley did to the defense this season makes me confident he knows what he’s doing.

Rams coach McVay is smart that way and why he has a Lombardy.

Coach McVay was 11-5 his first season, 13-3 his second and never has lost more than 9 games and look who his QB used to be! Staley was 8-9 his first season. He and We can't have another season like that from him again. Ever.

It was really bad at the end of the year and super frustrating especially while Herbert was keeping us in those games despite the horrific play on defense.

A second year QB the likes of, Herbert, on another team, possibly could have gotten to the playoffs. Is that your “we want it now”, shoulda coulda, woulda? I give Staley his second year, but not much more after that unless he gets real close to banging down the door. Main reason? Herbert.
