Last week’s loss bothered me a heck of a lot more than today’s. Last week’s game just seemed to count a lot more than today’s.

I didn’t watch the game because I was at work, so thank god for that. This was a game for the coaching staff to prove to us that they were a well coached team. Well, they failed beyond belief!!!
Herbert should not have been playing and gave all the reps to Daniel all week with a sprinkle of Stick. Design a game plan that fits Daniel and Stick and work on it all week. If it doesn’t work out, O well. But no, you put your injured superstar QB out there without consistent reps all week and no Linsley. Then you let him stay in the game after the whole team has been embarrassed all game, and for what??? Because he wants to. HORSESHIT!!!
I have been a fan of Staley, but this game really showed me that he is afraid to put his foot down when he needs to. Don’t get me started on Lombardi and what in gods name does Renaldo Hill have to offer?
I know it’s only game 3, but the rumblings of favoritism and accountability is very worrisome in my eyes. Look, they could turn it around, look great and make a run. But I would be very surprised if that were to happen.
if they lose next week, things might start to get interesting as far as hot seats throughout the coaching staff.
Dean Spanos needs to grow a fat pair and fire his son. We know that will never happen, which is horeshit in its own right! With Sean Payton out there and if they don’t make the playoffs this year. Staley could get the boot this year along with Tolesco. I could see them making a hard push for Payton. Payton is smart enough to design an O that fits Herbert’s skill set.Last edited by Boltinloudguy; 09-26-2022, 03:13 AM.

This offence has 2 major problems beyond the injuries.
Coaching and playcalling
No speed, no juice outside or after the catch, and aside from Keenan Allen no one can get can separation and consistanlty open so you have Herbert having to place the ball into tight, contested windows. Even worse, defences know this now and can defend the run and the short pop gun passing attack with no fear.
And now Guyton looks gone, the only speed guy. This team should take a flyer on Will Fuller or some sort of body with speed outside the organization. Lack of speed was clearly a weakness that was not addressed this off season.
Williams is good on contested catches but has been erased in 2 of 3 games. Even if he is double covered with Allen out he needs to start producing like a 20 million dollar receiver.

Trying not to overreact. Team went into the game with important starters out (Allen, Linsley, Jackson) and then lost more (Bosa, Slater). Herbert barely practiced with the team and the game plan (whatever that might have been had to scheme for Chase Daniels to start, and then be adjusted on the fly when Justin said he would play). All the hype for the KC game, and this one at home set them up for a natural letdown. Maybe a perfect storm, made us look a lot worse than we really are. But there are some major concerns. The offense is very conservative and predictable-- is that because the offense line is so bad, because the receivers aren't getting separation, because Herbert is checking down too much? While we call a trick play or two every game, have any of them worked? I thought the whole point of the off-season was to fix the defense, and yet we couldn't seem to get off the field, and gave up an embarrassingly easy 50 yard touchdown run. Clock management at the end of the first half, not calling timeout after their first down and goal run. Have we made any successful halftime adjustments? The opponents seem to do this, we don't. Is this coaching staff capable of making major adjustments when it becomes clear things are not working? There are a lot of questions.

Haven’t seen that much of the Chargers or NFL the last few years but did watch this game. Living in Jacksonville now and have to say, that was some snazzy offensive game plan they threw out there yesterday and Trevor has come a long way from his first year with the previous dysfunctional coach. He is a cool guy with an even keel, active in the community, and with a very cute wife; lucky him.
That offensive plan the Chargers used yesterday, with their injured franchise QB camped in the pocket, looking for open receivers, was horrendous, given all of the injuries and big picture.
And keeping him in the game when it was out of hand? Incredible, I couldn’t believe it. And that’s when Guyton was hurt.
The Chargers defense seems thin with those injuries.
They were outcoached and their coaching seems pretty bad. And the usual injuries. I don’t understand how the past just keeps following this team.

Yesterdays also showed how bad the coaching staff was as well. A decent to good coaching staff was on display last week in Dallas when the Cowboys beat the AFC Champ Bengals with a backup QB, a not very good Oline and 1 of their top WRs out, in Michael Gallup. Now let’s see if they can do it on the road in NY with a revived Giants team.

Injuries and an off Herbert aside, the Jags beat us soundly...most disturbing is how we seemed to lay down...heads hanging.
