No play calling is going to make our receivers faster and get better separation so I'm not sure how much Lombardi can be faulted for that. We either need to block a whole lot better to give them time to get open or add someone to the roster.

Actually, there is a remedy which Herbert isn’t using enough,IMO.

It’s called timing routes. The QB throws the ball to a spot where he expects the receiver to be.

if you’ve watched Herbert lately, he waits until the receiver is open and waiting which gives the defender extra time to close the gap and defend the pass.

KA isn’t fast but gets open all the time. I think that’s because Herbert and KA have built up trust and timing so Herbert is more willing to chuck the ball to the predetermined spot he expects KA to end up.

Perhaps Herbert just doesn’t have the same expectation and trust with the other receivers.

They need to figure this out and improve or it’s going to more of the same 5 yard passes to a receiver that is blanketed.

Agreed. Allen coming back will help as he is better than Palmer so that might create more options for Williams and Everett and Ekeler. But Herbert being able to go back and launch one 50 yards - not sure who would be the target. Is Bandy the fastest WR now

With regards to the offense. The one thing that bothers me the most, is that if I have Williams going against any db, do it. I don’t care what db is on 81, throw it his way more than last night.

I'm beginning to think that Parham may be too long to play the game safely. He seems to be prone to hitting his head when he goes to the ground hard. Due to being abnormally tall, his neck and head are longer than the average player and create more of a whiplash when hitting the turf which causes his head to bounce off the ground.

Can Herbert throw 50 yds with accuracy & timing? His long ball on MNF was pretty rough. Heck his short throws were rough. Hopefully he doesn't get hit v Sea and the next wk off gets him in better shape.

Fair point with the injury. Just keep finding ways to win - thats what its all about.
