The franchise is essentially an employment for the Spanos family and their progeny.

I am torn about this. The fact that they want to keep this a family business is actually hard to argue against. After all, it is their business. And from a loyalty perspective, blood does tend to be thicker than water (LOL, Dea Spanos notwithstanding). I have no idea if any of them are competent, but the results do seem to speak for themselves. So if they are content being middle of the road (which honestly should be obvious to all of us by now after nearly 40 years of mediocrity), then so be it. Like another poster stated, the only thing I can do about it is quit paying attention. I likely won't because I'm a dumbass sports addict. But as they say, misery loves company. I sure am grateful to have TPB around for group therapy sessions!

I don't have an issue with the FUdeans and their nepotism. When I was a Charger fan all I ever wanted was for them to hire football people to run the football side of the business. I feel bad for the season ticket owners. They have a lot invested in what is obviously a mediocre team that ownership seems happy with.

The Chargers trust (36% of the teams ownership) is losing $11 million per year in a recent court filing by sister Dea Spanos.

If Dea Spanos who owns 15% of the team and could potentially control the Chargers trust (36%) is successful she will control 51% of the team (36% + 15% = 51%).

Now this is where it gets interesting. The NFL is arbitrating this mess now. Its no secret the NFL was pissed off at Dean for showcasing one of their franchises in a soccer stadium.

Its also no secret the NFL are greedy bastards and want their $645 million relocation money paid quicker from the Chargers (or a new owner !!!) instead of the 30 years to payback (it was 10 years until Spanos cried NFL poverty) which is split amongst all NFL owners.

It also no secret if the Chargers are sold it will be around $3.5 - $4 billion in the sale.

It stands to reason Dea Spanos has the upper hand here and her family needs to kiss her ass OR the Spanos reign will come to an end and be relegated to a minority owner status at 49% (less 4% for minority owners Pernicano & Fox) or an outright 100% sale if the bobble-headed sons and family agree. Dean in a letter to his sister Dea made a commitment to "explore" selling the team in 2024 to cool her jets. Dea realized the trust would be sufficient to satisfy debts and had since backed off the civil litigation but is pursuing NFL arbitration instead (a lot cheaper route mind you).

Snapdragon was built to accommodate expansion for NFL seating Super Bowl requirements. The return to San Diego can happen with just a little faith. The ingredients are "almost" all there.

Dea Spanos has rescinded her opposition to NFL arbitration by my reads. In other words, it ain't over yet.

If Dea Spanos prevails and I suspect she will, she will control 51% ownership and sell.

So a new Chargers owner paying to own a majority 51% stake in the Chargers would be looking at $2.5 billion to purchase the Chargers or a steal by NFL standards to have majority control. Alex Spanos bought the San Diego Chargers back in 1984 for $72 million.

PS...Dean can keep his 15% stake and so can the others to keep feeling important as a lure to sell otherwise ........
