Man, wouldn't that be a kick in the balls if Shane came back as HC after being unceremoniously shepherded out of here after Lynn and others?

This is 100% on the guy who builds the roster.

          Alan Minton, Dallas

Jeff Miller/LATimes: I’d argue Derwin James Jr. is pretty good. Asante Samuel Jr. has a chance to be very good. Still too early to conclude that he’s incapable of doing anything worthwhile. J.C. Jackson was a Pro Bowl pick last year and didn’t have much of a chance to show himself this season before he got hurt. Ultimately, Tom Telesco and Brandon Staley are most responsible for the construction of this roster. The most disappointing thing about the 2022 Chargers for me has been the struggles of the defense overall. We heard all offseason about how they had added players with the experience and body types necessary to succeed in this scheme. The results through 10 games have been wildly mixed.

Wildly mixed = Worst run defense in league since 2000.
actualy the worst run defence since the AFL/NFL merger

My problem is historically, the Chargers have not done well with first time head coaches. Granted, other teams have success but they also might have different owners that run the organization better than the Spanii

That is why Butler, passed to AJ, and Marty worked - they were competent people with a track record. Will the Spanii be willing to do that again

I understand some of the mistakes Jon Robinson made in Tenneessee but I think he has an idea of what he wants in a football team. I truly do not thikn Telesco has a vision of a team. He sees the talent of the player and not how the fit on his roster.

Robinson would be a great candidate for the Chargers -never had a losing season. Chargers won't hire him though - no chance
I think the guy from the Ravens or maybe Borgonzi

But no rookie head coach - one or the other needs experience.

Sean Payton and Jeff Ireland could be because of Payton so by extension, they get Ireland

Granted, I am still holding out hope the team gets to 10-7 and Staley keeps his job. But if Telesco and Staley go - it will be something like
                    Borgonzi and Kafka

maybe the Chargers could get lucky and get hte Ravens guy with a coach like Wink Martindale

Telesco has to be fired first or we as re wasting our time talking about it. And if he does get fired which I doubt, we are absolutely going to get a first time GM. Or it will be John boy. And if it's John boy, I think I may be out.

if it's nepotism for GM then I will be out as well...popping in once in a while to check on Justin and how he's doing, and pray he doesnt accept a new contract here and goes elsewhere so the team can go into purgatory for their dumbass nepotistic decisions.

I have very mixed feelings about Robinson. He has never had a losing season in 6+ years so you have to give him a lot of credit for that. He also hired Vrabel. But...they are over the cap next year, his draft picks have not worked out and Vrable has to coach lights out with the lack of talent at the skill position, aside from Henry.
