Admittedly it's been 40 years since I went through chemotherapy and much has changed, but I remember them telling me at the time that the whole premise is to kill the cancer cells and even though your healthy cells will take a hit, they will be strong enough to recover. It sounds like she is recovering and that's very good news. I was about the same age she is now when I went through it and a youthful body has incredible recuperative ability.

I've been trying to explain this to her, but that stubborn girl of mine thinks she's bullet proof! I don't know where she gets it from. I want her to push this semester, but she's holding out hope to get back by Monday. I don't like the idea of her sitting in a class with 100 other people during cold and flu season, or possibly with students from other country's that never had childhood vaccinations. That's just asking for trouble, IMO. The Dr gave her a 50/50 chance at getting back to class on Monday and that wasn't what she wanted to hear and it pissed her off, so by the time I got there she was good and fired up. Lucky me.

can she talk to her professors and explain the situation and ask for her assignments to work from home until she gets back in class? Back in January 1995 I was ready for my last semester for my BS and was having brain surgery (no kidding, for real) 1 week before start of semester with about a 2 week recovery expected. I talked to all my professors in advance and told them the situation and asked for course syllabus and homework assignments and they said as long as I turned everything in on time, kept them updated and was in class for tests it was OK.

Can't hurt to ask....
