    Go Bolts!!!
I'm a big Fouts fan. But it took five full seasons for Fouts to ascend to eliteness at QB.

Rivers sat for two seasons behind an eventual HOF QB, then stepped into a roster that was arguably the best in the NFL, with the best OL in the league, and he had the best RB in league history to carry the offense. Rivers would eventually be the man who carried the offense and he was great, but he had the luxury of transitioning into that role.

Herbert stepped into a game on a moment's notice in week 2 of his rookie year and instantly elevated the offense to an elite level and has carried the team from that point. Herbert did have KA/MW/AE as playmakers and there is no denying that the immediate success he enjoyed was tremendously helped by having these guys. He would not have been as good with a lesser surrounding cast. But he has still carried this offense since become the sudden starter.

I've been meaning to do a post about this. As much frustration as Chargers' fans have endured, most of this century we have enjoyed having an elite QB, passing game and offense for most of this century. Even when the team wasn't good, it has always had a good offense, with a few exceptions. That is thanks to Brees & LT at the beginning of the century, but mostly Rivers and his HOF caliber career, and his incredible durability and consistency. Then we transitioned immediately into the Herbert era. I can't think of another team other than the Patriots and Packers that has had a consistently good offense over the past twenty years.

That dude, Nick Wright, is a die-hard, self-described "arrogant" Chiefs fan who thinks Mahomes is the best QB in league history. But he's very complimentary of Justin Herbert and of the Chargers in general, when healthy, and in a different video said the Bolts are the last team he wants the Chiefs to play in the post-season.

Yes, I know he's a homer for the chiefs but we get respect. LOL!

Stephen A said on First Take today that Sean Payton is in Los Angeles right now for a reason. Mr. A thinks the Chargers are going to make the playoffs over the Jets or Patriots. But, he said, Brandon Staley is playing for his job right now, because if the Chargers do miss the playoffs he believes Staley will be fired.

He's honest. He's seen how well the Chargers play the Chiefs and the Bolts scare him.

Staley isn’t going anywhere. The team has played well for him considering all the injuries

But I hope he upgrades a few assistants.
Now, if you excuse me, I have some Charger memories to suppress.
                    Let’s win one for Mack.

We'll never know what a mentally healthy Ryan Leaf might have been able to do with his considerable physical gifts. Fouts and Rivers were mental giants, but neither was mobile.

But Herb has the prototypic QB build, an arm second to nobody, is highly athletic, and as mobile as you could possibly hope a guy of his size could be.

So, no. The Bolts have never had a more physically gifted QB than Herbert, and it's increasingly obvious that he possesses top shelf smarts and competitiveness. He's a highly mobile Dan Marino.
That right there was a Greek Tragedy. He had all the gifts and abilities to be better than Manning but he did not want to put in the work or effort. He had an arm though that was like Herbert's. Every throw could be made and it looked effortless.
