Belichick should be interested in trading for James
he certainly won't be using his picks productivity.

    P2. Shocking Effort - Eboigbe
    P3. Ball Disruption - Ford

Hunter Henry and Rhamondre Stevenson for Derwin James.

Derwin James is an elite player in the NFL. Period point blank.

Derwin James's impeccable timing of penalties is unfortunately equally elite.

The dumb and costly penalties have been well documented.
His poor coverage has been discussed.

As a so called elite player when was the last time he impacted a game in really big way. I haven't seen an impact play, and interception, a sack for a while.
He is always trumpeted by Staley as the leader of the defense...well the defense he leads sucks...gives up more explosive plays than anyone...cant get off the field on 3rd down...gives up 25 points a game...always ranked among the worst defenses

Can someone tell me what is elite here because I honestly don't see it. ( i no longer care about his rookie season) Past reputations on some of these really highly paid defenders isn't enough for me anymore

He is definitely an elite DB blitz specialist. That's not worth what he's getting paid, however.

                Preach!

I just have no idea why Staley cannot figure out how to use Derwin James and get the most out of him. Because at his best, he is a very good player. I am sure if James leftm he would be a very good player again

i swear, I think Staley has just bleeped this defense over as he is in way over his head. And Telesco has never been able to put together a strong defense - its just a cluster bleep.

I sure would like to know what plays he has made that makes him elite. When was his last INT?

My points also. I think of an elite player as an impact player, a difference maker. Our defense has actually played better in some games without Derwin James

Well "Mr. Elite" may not play this week because of an ankle injury in practice...

                      (Is that good or bad?)

                        Indifferent is my guess.

                          1. DERWIN JAMES, LOS ANGELES CHARGERS

James is the league’s most dynamic playmaker at safety. There isn’t a better combination of run defense (75.3 grade), coverage (74.5) and pass rush (90.9). His 77.6 overall grade ranked 13th among all qualified safeties in 2022. He racked up two interceptions, two forced fumbles and four sacks. On any given day, the soon-to-be 27-year-old has the ability to be the best safety in football. If he has another performance similar to his rookie year (87.8 overall grade), he’ll be in the Defensive Player of the Year conversation.

Imagine if Derwin didn't inflict those explosive unnecessary hits (that resulted in 1st downs + 15 yards + self-inflicted injury). He'd have more playing time, opposing defense get less chance in scoring points, and his stat's would've been better. The combination of those stats above bolded are on his "down" year which are still better than any other safety in the NFL.

That said...he regulates and wastes his talent by taking himself out of games.
