^Agree. It was frustrating watching how Staley used him and too often I think he tried to cover up the many, many mistakes made by the rest of the secondary and the only thing it did was make him less effective.

I think he wanted Derwin to be multi-faceted to mask weaknesses in other areas - like you stated - but it ended up hurting more as Derwin was not the master of any and the other guys weren't that great either

It was really poor coaching. And again, Staley needed a real DC -- and not try to be the end all be all.

        this is my belief.

I think they get a real DC with a real executable scheme and they play him in 2024. His cap hit to get rid of him is greater than the cap hit to keep him, its not a good year to ditch him when we have cap problems, and I believe Staley fucked him up and he can be fixed.

Just show that video to the new GM. HC and DC - and say "see that guy, bring his backside back!!" Forget about the Star or the Money or whatever - just bring that guy back to the field on defense.

                        I'm willing to give him some time in a real scheme to see what he can do . . . . . . . . . . . . . hoping for the best.

I also think that being one of Staley's pet players enabled Derwin to do some of the dumb stuff we saw this year - no accountability. A good coaching staff and universal accountability will help him (I think).
