    D. Marino and D. Fouts have never won big game in playoff.
The only Chargers presence at the SuperBowl is because defense

That's debatable but I like D. It takes all 3 playing well. Offense, defense and special teams.

They got in the Super Bowl by luck too. That defense got smoked by a high power passing offense in the first half of that SB, it was over before Q3 due to the 49er Pass Offense. 6 TDs, 455 yards passing in the game.

Probably better examples of where defense is key to winning. ‘85 Bears perhaps.

So it works once every 11 years? And are the other 10 due to Offense? Hmmm …

Most often teams with good balance are in the SB. Top players on O, D and decent STs.
QBs deservedly get a lot of credit but winning by one score takes everybody. You made one more play than the other guy.
                It could have been anybody.

ps: I just named 2 obvious Top D SBs without looking.

I was aware of a top D / mediocre O winning once every 10 years before you posted it. In 2023 KC was the top offense in AFC, Philly was top offense in NFC.

Philly was #2 defense but KC was only #11. KC won the SB. Modern Football.

I can accept that I am barely right. Thanks!

2002 Tampa Bay Buccaneers. Brad Johnson was the QB, for Christ's sake!.
