The odds of getting a comp pick in 2025 are slim and none - there are benefits of moving on from him even if draft compensation might be lower than what some think he would be worth. Like, the chargers can take that 6m of cap space and sign a player like JJ3 or Edge depth like Floyd and make the defense better.
If Ekeler is betting on himself like he said he is if he stays here, he will not be a distraction and he will not give a half-ass effort.

You have to also have a trade partner. Maybe that will happen after or during the draft. Maybe a trade.of El fora player after the draft and we have drafted a RB or even two.
Any possibilities but 8ndont think he will be a problem.

He is in his last year with us or someone else betting on himself.

Mouse is the key word there. Yes he can have some success but he cannot sustain the beating that he will take. He’s already complained at 200 carrys.

He could be used in conjunction with another back, but it’s going to be a pretty big tell that when Ekeler is back there it’s going to skew even more heavily pass.

I trust Moore and if he decides to keep Ekeler that he will get the most he can out of him.

It’s entirely possible they stick with Ekeler and let Kelly and Spiller fight for the Zeek role. Maybe it works and if anyone can do it it’s Moore. Here’s hoping.

His actions have shown he is unhappy. He can’t stop going to the public and talking about his feelings. It’s not the sign of someone who will not be a distraction.

Ekeler wants more money. He'll either sit out, play well or find a trade Stalesco likes. He won't prove doubters right.Spiller & Kelley are good depth. Moore knows who they are.

It looks like the RBs are going to find it very difficult to get the big bucks that other positions get.
Lol, so what are the Chargers doing wrong then?

In all seriousness, it is an interesting dilemma. At some point, NFL marketers realized that more passing = more $$$. Thus the evolution into a passing league has brought about the demise of the bellcow back. The explosion of youth 7 on 7 leagues reflects the upstream impacts - how long before coaches will have to beg players to take a few reps at RB? Maybe they need to re-label the position? As it stands, there's little incentive for any high level athlete to want to play RB.

Having a very good - great RB that is underpaid while the kids grow up?

He needs to be traded (might get a 6th for him) or cut. The business of winning needs a team concept. EK's actions are all about him.

This is how I feel about it. I think the tougher part is finding a trade partner that wants him for more than a year. Hence, without a contract, you are correct in that it might be a 6th round pick

The Chargers probably want more value for Ekeler but they also don't want to pay him so the value can't be "well we want a third but also don't want to pay you more than Miles Sanders", Can't have your cake and eat it too. The Chargers could take a chance and he shows up. Or he might Gordon it

I dont know why people got their panties in a twist...its a crime to advocate for himself and RBs in general? He already said he will play and bet on himself...that means he will give 110 percent, as always. So happens that is what is best for the team. I'm sure TT, Staley, and all his teammates understand...they also know he will play his guts out, as always...cuz thats Eke. The team wont be effected. The only people really distracted by this are some of you fans...
The TPB makes plans....And Jim Harbaugh laughs...

Final prediction: Latham OT, Colson LB, Sainristil CB, Rice WR, Zinter OG, Nourzad OC, MacLachlan TE, Vidal RB, Lovett DT

We have no idea what he is going to do in 4 months
                      zero idea

This is a monetary decision - and I get that. But without more money - -why would he show up for training camp

He has never said anything about holding out, and is on record as saying he will honor his contract...that means no holdout as of now...until something happens otherwise, I find the judgement of him in the court of public opinion harsh and unfounded.

honoring his contract could be showing up on labor day

i don't blame him for wanting more money - never have, never will
                          his agent mis-read the market
and obviously - other teams do not want to pay him the money he wants as he is still trying to find a trade partner.
