I'm with Chris Simms that there should be a RBs pool of money for the top ten RBs that contribute for each season. I want Hungry players vying for the crown and additional cash payout. As it is we treat these players as glorified mules that we take out to the back of the barn to shoot them after they can't pull the wagon anymore.

A few problems with that proposal:

    1. Who donates to this RB Pool Party?
    2. How much?
    3. Are contributions to the Pool Party mandatory or voluntary?
    4. How soon before the WR's want in on THEIR Pool Party?
    5. How soon before the KICKERS want in on the Pool Party?
    6. Ad infinitum...

It's definitely a head scratcher trying to come up with some incentives program for the RBs that the other positions won't quickly decide they want for themselves. And then it's only a matter of time before we circle back around to where we are now.

I don't really see a path to artificially force more payment for RBs. Perhaps the way forward is for RBs trying to push for rule changes that make their position more impactful once again.

Super Bowl trophies will take care of this.

If Chargers were to win one, Austin would be front and center and market would shift.

There are very, very, very few players like Deebo and McCaffrey. 49ers have two. And though many teams have tried to duplicate Shanahan's offense...who has ever succeeded?
The 49ers have drafted very well.
          Kittle must also be mentioned.
The Trey Lance issue was overcome.
But Lance and Purdy are key elements.
It's really about QBs...talent level and cap numbee.
Maybe we do play modern football.

They stocked that DL so deep that losing guys doesn’t make a dent.

Javon Hargrave is regarded as the best FA signing this year. SF's boldness pays, even with some whiffs.

Lynch is one of the few ex-NFL players I can think of who has made a successful transition to the front office...Ozzie Newsome with the Ravens and Horseface of the Donks are others...

I hope that all of you who criticized Ekeler for wanting to be paid for his worth are hanging your heads after today's game. If you aren't you should.

From the start, I always said Ekkie is an excellent back...still do...my issue with him was that he went public with his comments...even after the Bolts did the classy thing and reworked his deal to give him all those incentives...

I'm not sure many criticized him for wanting to be paid. I know a lot didn't care for the public whining about it but the reality is no RBs got big contracts.
