The Innovators are those who recognize that change is coming (whether a new product, the coming collapse of the economy, or the emergence of a talented running back). The Innovators frequently face criticism from the late majority, and especially, from the laggards, who refuse to pay attention to the early red flags (if the change is a negative one); or the early positive signs (if the change is a positive one).

Those of us who recognize the talent of someone like Dotson and are in favor of him being retained on the final 53, and becoming a key part of our RB committee, are Innovators. IF Dot continues to produce at the level I feel he can, I believe we will be joined by more and more Early Adopters. The Big Scary Chasm in question in the chart below represents the final day of cuts; Dot either makes the final 53 or not. I believe he will, as long as he continues to play at or close to the level he has shown in preseason game 1.

He doesn't even need to score another 40-yd TD. Even if he just breaks off several more runs of 5-20 yds., with a good ypc average, I think he sticks to the team. After the Big Scary Chasm is overcome, we will see him win over more of the Early Majority. As Dot continues to produce during the season, the Late Majority will finally climb aboard. Some members of the Late Majority and Laggards, in order to cover up their embarrassment at failing to recognize change earlier on, may engage in revisionism, in which they revise or edit previous statements or posts, or write new posts, claiming they were Innovators or Early Adopters from the start. This is well illustrated in George Orwell's Animal Farm, when the Pigs revise the original 7 Commandments.

Getting back to football, though, regarding the Laggards, there will always be a few of these who, even late in the season, will be dismissing Dotson as a fluke. We shall see. Are you an Innovator or a Laggard? Or somewhere in between? And there you have it, a statistical and sociological analysis meets pro football.

You sir, are an official DOT INNOVATOR! Welcome to the Club! I hereby decree that those who wait until after Dot has a great preseason game #2, and THEN advocate for him to stick with the team, will be considered Early Adopters...

Schedule for membership in the OFFICIAL DOT FAN CLUB:

          1. INNOVATORS - Those who say Dot is the real deal up to start of PS game #2
          2. EARLY ADOPTERS - Those who admit he's the real deal up to start of PS game #3
          3. EARLY MAJORITY - Those who finally admit Dot is the real deal up to announcement of final cuts
          4. LATE MAJORITY - Those who grudgingly admit Dot is the real deal between final cuts and mid-season
          5. LAGGARDS - After mid-season, when Dot shows beyond the shadow of a doubt that he really IS the real deal, those who are forced to admit he IS the real deal...

          That is all...

LOL, the only qualification is just having a pair of eyes that can see the obvious

LOL...true dat...well Fouts, I guess it's just you, 21, Chili and me and one other who are Innovators...according to the poll, (as of 8-17-23) just FIVE of us think Dot is the real deal...oh well, I suppose it will take another game to get the Early Adopters (SOME of the "Maybes" in the poll) to climb aboard...

As an established A-Hole with solid credentials, I prefer to maintain a little space from similar individuals whether we agree on a given topic, or not.
That said, I like Dotson and think he bears watching. Ekeler, Kelley, Spiller, Dotson currently. Ek stays at 1, the rest can move up or down based on upcoming performances. Shampklin is a wildcard.

It's crazy what a good OC can do, the new improved scheme maximizes the skills our RB room has, last year's scheme it only maximized the talents of one of our backs...now it seems like our RB room is stacked, even Shampklin is better than any of the bottom 3 guys from last year's TC and he is currently RB#5 and can only best hope for a PS spot...

I've been concerned by looking ahead to 2024 and wondering about what the chargers were going to look like at RB with Ekeler's departure, but the future looks hell of bright with Spiller, Dotson, and even Shampklin who is a very versatile and intelligent back with receiving skills and also has a burst...they might even bring back Kelley if he's cheap, but I don't think they'll be needing to draft a RB high in 2024, that's significant when you consider that so many big changes will happen at top salary positions, Mack, JC Jackson, Bosa, Allen, and Mike Williams will all have huge cap hits on a team that will also be losing Michael Davis to free agency and looking forward to locking up Rashawn Slater, Josh Palmer and other young core guys long term...it's nice to know that the 2024 draft will not add RB to it's needs, not when CB, WR, and Edge will take priority...

Dotson will end up on the PS. With a 17 game season, one of the 3 RB’s will get banged up and Dotson will see action on the active roster. From past history, Kelly is my first guess as the one who’ll need to be spelled at some point. Dotson WILL see action.

Oh my, I'm afraid we have a Late Majority or Laggard here...trust me, if the Bolts are foolish enough to send Dot to the PS, he'll be snapped up quicker than you can say "Wes Welker"...
