McKitty has been a big disappointment, but I just don't see the Chargers giving up on him - yet.

I actually saw him lay a few really good blocks last week. I saw him whiff on a ton of blocks last year. But we saw every OL player whiffing last year - when every player is missing assignments, its probably not the players. We'll see - i'd like to see him get as much chance as anyone, i'm still skeptical that the final 53 will have him but Popper could be right. Either way - if he's part of the top 53 for the coaches, thats enough for me. If he's not, also ok for me. All these young men yearn and toil and sweat and work for the same dream, only 53 will get itOriginally posted by CivilBolt View Post
Popper said Horvath is a keeper because he can play multiple positions like special teams, etc. He was also in multiple running plays as a leading blocker under Moore. Let’s see if he makes the cut.Justin Herbert is Elite. Ride or Die ...

Why? Who’s gonna sign him if we cut him? He will 100% be available as a street signing if, absolute worse case, we need to sign him/any other street TE.Originally posted by richpjr View PostMcKitty has been a big disappointment, but I just don't see the Chargers giving up on him - yet.

I don't know, what were they expecting from McKitty? Yeah, I agree, he hasn't been very much of a receiver, and yeah, you probably do want more production from TE, even a primarily blocking TE.Originally posted by richpjr View PostMcKitty has been a big disappointment, but I just don't see the Chargers giving up on him - yet.

Because none of the guys behind him seem to be NFL caliber TE and we don't normally give up quickly on draft picks.Originally posted by blueman View Post

why? just because he was a third rounder? they cut jerry tillery last year so there is hope they'll do what's best for the team, you keep players that can help the team or have legit upside, McKitty is an empty jersey, he's like Jaimes, guys that probably got into the league without understanding the physical and mental commitment required to play in the NFL, that or they've since decided they aren't willing to pay that mental and physical price to stick around...the league isn't for everyone and some of these guys don't want to put their bodies thru anymore than what it already took to get here, we've seen this many times before...Originally posted by richpjr View PostMcKitty has been a big disappointment, but I just don't see the Chargers giving up on him - yet.
IDK, but those two guys, I think it's time to just move on from them and wish them the best...I take Bailey over Jaimes and Kampfmoyer over McKitty in a nano second and don't even think twice about it...sometimes some of these guys want to play elsewhere in a different city, sometimes they want to play for their home teams that they grew up rooting for, sometimes they have a life outside of football that they are ready to get started, who knows? It could be any number of things, it's undeniable that both players have attributes and skills but for whatever reason that potential remains untapped...we are talking about human beings here, there could be a million reasons these kids didn't pan out but you have to move on from them for the sake of the team or we could miss out on someone else who is hungry and actually wants the fucking job...
of late, the draft process seems to have improved, I can't remember the last time that the chargers found so many guys consistently in later rounds of the draft, guys like Salyer, Neiman, Leonard, Taylor, Ogbonnia, Mattlock, McFadden, and perhaps even Horvath, PLUS they're still doing a fine job of finding people in undrafted free agency too...so if that continues it's going to happen happen more and more that they'll have to cut their loses sooner on higher picks that don't develop, it happens on every winning team the has talent in the NFL, you just can't afford to keep people on that haven't shown anything when others are waiting in the wings that have made a case for themselves..."The author assumes no responsibility or liability for any errors or omissions in the content of this post. that's the thing tho, his blocking is not good, both in the passing game and in the run game and he provides no down field threat and drops too many balls...plus he always seems like the kid that didn't study for the test, fucking clueless...Originally posted by Velo View PostI don't know, what were they expecting from McKitty? Yeah but this is the best team the chargers have had in 15-16 years, this is a legit contender type team, things are a little different right now than they have been in the recent past...there is no point in leading the league in keeping draft picks on your roster when those rosters haven't done squat...they don't have the luxury right now to even keep guys that aren't up to snuff and it sends a fucked up message to the rest of the squad if they do...Originally posted by richpjr View Post

That Horvath thing just aint gonna happen, i admire the tenacity of his fans here but its just not. He may make the roster this year for some occasional lead blocking and a lot of ST play but he's not going to ever get a chance at a meaningful weapon role in the offense.Originally posted by Fouts2herbert View Post
