He must be good enough keep around. So he's doing things well in practice otherwise I think the coaching staff would have seen his shortcomings and cut him . Remember? Coaching and practice? They see him 90% more that you or I do. They see and hear him in the QB room. So I will side with the experts here. Stick is a non issue regarding the Chargers IMO.

My question is more toward Duggan. Did any of his play or something earn him zero playing time in preseason. I just found that a bit odd to not even give him a quarter of football.
Ken Dorsey never lost a game in high school or in college and he went 7th round, didn't last long in the league. And he played at Florida st, not South Dakota st.

Wentz has been a lot better than Stick in the NFL from the same school.....and Wentz isn't that good.
Stick broke Wentz passing yardage mark at SDSU. I know Stick hasn't had the opportunities Wentz had but I think we can see it won't matter. Wentz started out ok, downhill from there.

You just never know about players. Sometimes they peak in college.
    1. Mason Taylor TE LSU
    2. Quinshon Judkins RB Ohio st
    3. Kyle Kennard Edge So. Carolina

    4. CJ West DT Indiana
    5. Don'te Thornton WR Tennessee
    6. Zah Frazier CB UTSA
    6. Jarquez Hunter RB Auburn
    6. Jay Higgins LB Iowa
    6. Hunter Wohler S Wisconsin
    7. Carson Vinson OT Alabama

      NDSU.
Stick didn't have a great night, I'm going to try to be calmer than TPB today. I once says Fouts have a bad day and he's HOF .

he only got a 1 year deal, I would welcome new competition next season as I have doubts about Duggan

Horvath had 256 special teams snaps last year. PFF doesn’t separate out grading for blocking vs coverage units, but we do know that Chargers special teams were considerably improved last year. Granted this is just a guess, but a 71.7 pff special teams grade seems to indicate that he played a role in their overall success. PFF isn’t infallible, I know, but I appreciate what they do and am a happy subscriber.

In PS week 1, Horvath had a very nice interior block that allowed Dotson to gain about 8 yards. He also sealed off an interior blitzing LB on Dotson’s 1st TD run.

Every team needs guys willing to do the dirty work effectively so that guys like Dotson can shine. I believe Horvath can be one of those guys.

It matters WHO you play with. Our backup OLine is garbage. You can count on injuries this season and it will be devasting when the OL subs fill in.

What can we do at this point? Trade a 7th round draft pick for a decent backup O-lineman? Maybe there's a team out there that has a glut of decent OT's...and is afraid of poaching if they send someone to the PS...offer up a 7th rounder BEFORE cuts...because if they're halfway decent, a lot of other teams will have a shot at them before we do...
            22 - TE Mason Taylor
            55 - RB Quinshon Judkins
            86 - DL Josiah Stewart
            125 - G Dylan Fairchild
            158 - C Jake Majors
            181 - WR Donte Thornton

I wouldn't say they are garbage. Maybe as a unit they are. They are what they are. A group of backups. When you need to plug them into a real game because of injury or whatever then they are working with starters. They can roll coverages to help out the backup. Again not worried about it. I think our backups will be fine. Again I think that's part of the reason why Stick struggled.

Almost every team in the league has depth issues on the offensive line and some can't field 5 good starters. It's not like there is this giant surplus of stud linemen available to fill in.

This. Even below average olinemen are a hot commodity . . . . . . . . . . . I think we'll use Salyer as the '1st guy up' to replace an injured tackle based on his performance last year, but that would create 2 changes in the line, and it may not be worth it to mess with the starting oline chemistry to that extent.

For what it's worth Sarell does seem to be better at RT than LT.

You dont see much of that from Kelly. If he doesn't have a hole, he is pretty much done.
yeah I dont see the shakes in kelley, like he wouldnt be able to make a defender miss in the open.

I noticed that also...in a pinch, we could get by with Sarell at RT, as long as the RB or TE helps out with a few ahem, chips on the shoulder of the Edge player...

                          ON TOPIC:

I was unhappy with the drops from Dot, but he still got those moves you cannot coach. #4 RB atm looking at moving up.

looking far ahead to 2024 and beyond I could vision Spiller #1 and Dot #2
