I can’t remember the last time someone described the Charger running game in this way - so very refreshing. Of course it’s still early, but the fact that this was achieved with mostly backups & some mere scheme changes bodes extremely well for the near future. I think it was Brett Kollman that stated, “the Chargers will run the ball this year if they want to.”

IT'S OFFICIAL! DOT ON THE FINAL 53!!! YEAH, THAT'S WHAT I'M TALKIN' ABOUT!!!

        Running backs (4)

On the Roster: Elijah Dotson, Austin Ekeler, Joshua Kelley and Isaiah Spiller

Ekeler has turned into a touchdown machine with a league-best 38 scores over the past two seasons. He can do it all on the field, whether it's running the ball or catching it (as evident by his franchise-record 107 receptions) a season ago. The running backs will once again be a focal point in the offense, especially under new Chargers Offensive Coordinator Kellen Moore. Kelley and Spiller return from 2022 to round out this room, and both could provide a boost to the offense. Kelley was the Bolts No. 2 back a year ago and showed promise despite dealing with a midseason knee injury. Spiller could be a name to watch, as he didn't play much as a rookie but has looked like a different player in camp and the preseason. Dotson impressed with a strong preseason, which included a pair of long touchdown runs against the Rams. Moore said last week that the Bolts will likely rely on a multi-pronged attack to jumpstart the run game in 2023.

It's all gonna come in handy right away. Fangio runs 4 deep coverage, which has been a problem for Herbert. There should be good decisions available for Justin.
            We play modern Harball.

made sense for dotson to be kept in the fold with both ekeler and kelley likely gone after the season...

^ This...it would have made no sense whatsoever to invest in developing a RB like Dot, then to lose him to poaching, when we have 1-2 starting RB's leaving after the season...potentially Dot provides a nice transition from Ekkie...
                (hope so)

Fine, if Fangio wants to roll with 4-deep coverage, just hand the rock off to Ekkie, Dot and Kelley until they bring up those safeties...then, BAM! Go deep to QJ or DD for a long gainer or to the house!

Same, I got really good vibes with Dotson, he could be the next ekeler for the chargers...

I’m glad they kept Dotson. It seemed to me his first few steps were the most explosive of all the RB’s. Like he was shot out of a cannon.

Can’t teach that type of powerful athleticism.

Only concern I have is the roster might not be totally cast yet. They might pick someone that got waived by another team and Dotson is gone.

                        Hope that’s not the case.

                          Good player.

Hopefully he's active on game day
