They already have the league approval to leave any time they want. It may not be crazy, but it sure seems very unlikely.
There is literally no precedent for the situation the Chargers are in. They tried to move, were denied and now have permission to move to LA whenever they want, how many teams have been there? The 'conspiracy' is expensive and pointless. Anyway, easy to f up their nefarious plan, pass the CI. That will show them! Don't give them what they want, vote yes! lol.
Throwing around scare words like "unhinged" and "crazy" is no substitute for an actual argument.
There's a long history of teams going to ridiculous lengths to discourage their fans before moving to another city. The Montreal Expos stopped televising their games locally, took down all the signs around Montreal directing people to Olympic Stadium, and started playing half of their "home games" in San Juan before finally moving to DC. Bob Irsay sabotaged the Colts' on-field product by meddling in personnel and coaching decisions, and he publicly lied about moving the team right up until the night the moving vans left town. Georgia Frontiere moved the Rams to Anaheim (away from the fans) and gutted the roster on purpose before relocating the team to St. Louis.
Going through the motions of a public vote while doing everything in their power to ensure it doesn't pass is actually tame compared to what other owners have done in the past. It's not "crazy" to wonder if the Chargers are just salting the Earth before they leave town when there's historical precedent for it.
But they already DID all that- LAST YEAR. More than a year of lies, distortions, BS and refusing to act like SD existed anymore. If your goal is to burn all your bridges to set your exit they did it! They HAD IN HAND their GOLDEN Ticket out of SD to greener pastures of LA- and still do. So I can only think of 3 possible reasons they came back: 1) to pocket the free $100 Mil from the NFL, 2) Pretend they are trying to get a stadium but sabotage it so some chunk of current fan base feels sorry for them and follows them to LA buying season tickets, or 3) they actually want to stay in SD with a new stadium- but are shooting for the moon on this 1st attempt and trying to use "leverage" they think they have instead of actually working with stakeholders and doing everything in their power to endear themselves to fans and likely voters.

Did Bosa sign yet?
Yep, it's all a carefully crafted plan to get what he already has.
So, just when we think that the "Worst Offseason Ever" couldn't get any worse, it does. Only the Chargers. Let's see how this all shakes out:
1) They re-up an ineffective HC with a brand new contract extension
2) They retain a DC who seems to have exactly one fan on this board
3) They have 'carte blanche' permission from the League to basically leave for LA whenever their little hearts desire
4) They let one of the fan-favorite players leave for another team
5) They have what appears to be a fairly successful draft...and then they can't manage to even sign their marquee guy to a rookie contract

Re-phrase 3) or call it 3b): They want to stay in SD, but only at the right price - as defined in their initiative. Otherwise they're gone.
4) They didn't have time to secure real estate in LA to move this year. (plus free rent this year, lower exit fee next year)
5) Commish told them to give it their best shot in SD, and now they have to go through motions to show that it can't be worked out.
No matter the case, if they had half a brain and actually want to stay in SD it's pretty obvious to everybody on this forum that they would have, after spending a couple mil on signatures, foregone the $38k in interest and signed the kid. But whatevahs. They're "tone deaf", right?
Prediction: Correct: Chargers CI fails miserably. Fail: Team stays in San Diego until their lease runs out in 2020. (without getting new deal done by then) . Sig Bet WIN: The Chargers will file for relocation on January 15.

Apparently they're not the only one that's 'tone deaf'. Did Bosa sign? Conspiracy!!!
They already have the league approval to leave any time they want. It may not be crazy, but it sure seems very unlikely.
But the league basically told the Chargers that they had to try to get a deal done with San Diego over the next year before packing up the moving vans. They even threw in a $300 million handout to sweeten the pot.
If the Chargers only have eyes for LA, it's in their best interest in the eyes of the league to "try" to work with San Diego (by going through the charade of a public vote) and "fail" (by sabotaging the on-field product and turning public sentiment against the stadium) first. That way, everyone's asses are covered. Everyone wins except the fans - the league has two teams in the second-biggest TV market, the Chargers get to be in their beloved LA, and both sides have excuses and scapegoats to blame for why San Diego got screwed.
Apparently they're not the only one that's 'tone deaf'. Did Bosa sign? Conspiracy!!!
So exactly why are the Chargers even bothering with this controversy? Upside is minimal, downside is huge. Especially when they need all the positive PR they can get....

It just keeps getting better.
Coincidence. I think not.
Now, if you excuse me, I have some Charger memories to suppress.
The Wasted Decade is done.
Build Back Better.
I am unsure about the duration of point #3.
I think the league says they have dibs on LA now and Chargers will say after the vote. But if they passed on moving after a "no" vote to try something other than to go with Kroenke, then raiturds can move to LA if they want to. So if that happened, I don't what the league's position is on the team. Can they just go wherever they want after that or is there going to be another owners vote?
I think the deal is the Chargers could get a one year extension on the free pass to LA if they were still in negotiations with SD. If they formally commit to San Diego the rights go to the Raiders.

Ya, because it's not a conspiracy? They're shitty owners, they're 'tone deaf' and they would be doing the same thing if they were the LA Chargers. It's how they negotiate, nothing to do with your personal view on the stadium which colors everything you post.
So why is bosa even bothering? His teammates are pissed, his upside is minimal and downside (bust potential) is huge. Why risk your career over 3 months? Unless he wants to play in LA!!! Omg.
