  • How Do We Fix the Offense?

Last week and this week 4th quarter possession failures. I even called it out in the game thread. "All I want for Christmas is a game sealing drive"

WHY CAN'T WE PUT GAMES AWAY? WHERE IS THE KILLER INSTINCT?

2 possessions late in the 4th ZERO points. All we had to do is have a sustained drive ending with some kind of points.

But no. Just like against Miami. We can't put a drive together when it counts.

    It's not the offense !
24 points against TEN is almost always a win.
A DPI at the half against MIA
Now, it's roughing the passer on 3rd down !

The offense is enough to win in the postseason. The problem is the defense and it has been that way throughout Staley's tenure.

Dude! Are you serious? We could have put the game away TWICE and both times. Stalled drives. We need to put teams away! We had the same chance with Miami. We can't put games away!

4th quarter @ our 40. 3 & 4. Why get cute and try Dotson up the gut for no gain? Why run at that point when they had shut down the run game for the most part.

We force a punt and get the ball AGAIN

1 and 10 on their 47 6 minutes on the clock. 21-17 Surely we can get 15 yards at the very least and get a field goal? Right? Nope. ZERO points.

I wish the OP would have done some research before starting this thread. The offense is 4th in scoring, 4th in rushing, 7th in passing. When your offense is top 10 in all of these categories and top 5 in two of them, the offense doesn't need fixing. Additionally, the offense has not turned the ball over in two games. I really don't understand what needs to be fixed.

Additionally, Herbert has completed 67.6 of his passes and has a 102 rating.

Has the OP ever heard the saying, if it ain't broke don't fix it?

              Yeah.....

The offense has been the issue!

Defense is surrendering an average of 31.5 points per game.

Its interesting how the Cowboys are so dominant and we are 0-2... Is the Cowboy defense so good that they don't even need an OC to win games!?? Moore overrated?

Either phase could have finished either game. We are leaving plays on the field in both phases of the game, offense and defense. If we are going to be a playoff contender, both phases need to improve and make more plays.

                    The OP has a point.

Irregardless of the defensive woes, the offense had more than 1 chance to seal this game and make the defense a non factor. No killer instinct in the 4th quarter then got the ball first in OT and went 3 and out. Those 3 plays in OT were awful. Not even close to completions. I was at the game and the thought entered my head that Herbert hasn't grasped this new system fully. He locked in on receivers on some throws and forced throws when he had time to find another option. At times he looked to have nervous feet in the pocket.

Its amazing how much more you see live vs the TV.

Telesco & Staley attached their careers to Herbert and so has Moore. Until Herbert demonstrates the "killer instinct", stay off digital social media, lol. Or in his own words, "plays fearless".

We are playing off coverage and still giving up big plays. Both Tua and Tannehill made perfect throws.

Herbert is still transitioning from Lombo to Moore offenses.

I believe our fortunes will change, in spite of the common narrative of us playing poorly so that Staley is fired.

The Chargers are playing exactly poor enough to lose.
