The D always seems to take half a season to start to gel. Hopefully they get on the same page quick this year, though this Bosa thing sure isn't gonna help matters is it?

Attaochu and Ingram should have plenty of motivation. Bosa may be lining up as a 5 technique, but he is probably going to get used more like JJ Watt, lining up wider and allowed to attack the edge. Bosa doesn't have the size and pure bulk strength to rush inside every down, like most 34 5-technique DE/DT types. They usually line up and attack inside more than anything. But we didn't draft him that high to line him inside and ask him to take on blockers, just like Watt wouldn't get used like that in Houston.

Our drafting Bosa sends a message to Ingram and Attaochu that our defense needs more rush off the edge, and they need to raise their game too. While both of them finished the year strong, neither started off very well, and both could use a lot of improvement as run defenders. And both could use a lot of continued improvement. THey both should that they can probably be 10 sack per year guys, but both need to step up and stop acting like a couple of college guys. They need to take their craft seriously, stop screwing around, and get the sacks and pressures they should be getting. THe 34 D is designed to put the OLB on the edge and rush the QB. It's time they start to produce.

Liuget is the other player who is on call this season. He got the big contract, but his is structured a lot like Butlers was. A lot of money up front, but obvious triggers that will force us to cut him unless he gets his act together and start producing. He gets enough playing time, and spends all his passing downs lined up as a 3-technique DT, so that he should be getting a lot more pressure and sacks then he is.

Now you know why you got "thrown into this".

Bosa has to get signed first before he does anything. Still amazes me that we cant get these guys signed with a rookie scale. These agents are dirtbags for wanting to create more ways to get more money and i stand by my thinking that with a rookie scale, why do these players NEED an agent? Sign the rookie deal and keep ALL that money for yourself. Hire an agent when you get close to FA'cy.

The Chargers aren't going to budge on the offset. Everyone else has one, they won't change just for Bosa.

I agree and nor should they. This is completely on Condom and his desire to add value to his brand at the expense of Bosa, the league, and us fans who want to see rookies like Bosa in camp yesterday.

But if he doesn't sign soon, you know, some sportswriter will say bears in the Ukraine (who wish to remain anonymous) are concerned we have done enough to change our roster, and are planning to rely solely on Rivers to win games, just like we neglected the Oline and RB positions last off season, and it'll totally be legit to say that. Totally.

The sad thing is this really just hurts Bosa. With the addition of Mebane, Lissemore and Carrethers can slide outside on run downs. With Attaochu and Ingram, plus a large cast of guys with potential at OLB, I wouldn't want to give those guys a chance to earn the playtime that would normally go to the 1st round guy. It would be just Bosa's luck that a guy or two step up and keeps the bonus baby on the bench.

No, it really hurts us because we need better players and Lissemore ain't one. Mebane isn't going to play outside. Could but most likely won't.
