Attaochu and Ingram should have plenty of motivation. Bosa may be lining up as a 5 technique, but he is probably going to get used more like JJ Watt, lining up wider and allowed to attack the edge. Bosa doesn't have the size and pure bulk strength to rush inside every down, like most 34 5-technique DE/DT types. They usually line up and attack inside more than anything. But we didn't draft him that high to line him inside and ask him to take on blockers, just like Watt wouldn't get used like that in Houston.
Our drafting Bosa sends a message to Ingram and Attaochu that our defense needs more rush off the edge, and they need to raise their game too. While both of them finished the year strong, neither started off very well, and both could use a lot of improvement as run defenders. And both could use a lot of continued improvement. THey both should that they can probably be 10 sack per year guys, but both need to step up and stop acting like a couple of college guys. They need to take their craft seriously, stop screwing around, and get the sacks and pressures they should be getting. THe 34 D is designed to put the OLB on the edge and rush the QB. It's time they start to produce.
Liuget is the other player who is on call this season. He got the big contract, but his is structured a lot like Butlers was. A lot of money up front, but obvious triggers that will force us to cut him unless he gets his act together and start producing. He gets enough playing time, and spends all his passing downs lined up as a 3-technique DT, so that he should be getting a lot more pressure and sacks then he is.

But if he doesn't sign soon, you know, some sportswriter will say bears in the Ukraine (who wish to remain anonymous) are concerned we have done enough to change our roster, and are planning to rely solely on Rivers to win games, just like we neglected the Oline and RB positions last off season, and it'll totally be legit to say that. Totally.

It would be just Bosa's luck that a guy or two step up and keeps the bonus baby on the bench.Last edited by Boltjolt; 07-03-2016, 06:55 PM.
