Maybe he doesn't want to take the attention away from his players in victory.

Some head coaches at the college level are like that ....

Maybe he had to get back into the other room to continue his conversation with the Spanos.

Harbaugh would have to suffer from severe mental breakdowns to go with the Raiders. It would literally be a "no brainer" to go with the Raiders. It would take a functioning brain to not go with them.
Plus, Mark Davis is still paying McDaniels, not to mention what he had to pay Gruden. He is one of the poorest owners in the league. He can't afford to pay McDaniels and Harbaugh.

Agree. You see that often with well established College basketball coaches as well. However, all of his words are being analyzed for clues on what he intends to do in the future... why give up the goods when the focus is on winning the "Natty".

Yeah, he's gone win or lose.

I don't buy the unfinished business part, nor the pinnacle of his college career.

I'd possibly be fine with DeBoer; but there are some issues, and he probably doesn't want to leave Washington for the Chargers.

If you look at his resume, lots of small town/small schools on his resume: Sioux Falls, Ypsilante Michigan, Carbondale Illinois.
He grew up in South Dakota.

His experience in Fresno was a big time leap up: must have been a culture shock.
He doesn't have a lot of head coaching experience.

            He'll connect well with Pip.

Not concerned about Harbaugh in the least. I think if he is the head ball coach, he would find a very good GM. Of the major candidates, have the least concerns with Harbaugh

If he hires the right GM -- the Chargers will be in a very good place

I didn’t realize that Bo Schembechler had never won a national championship at Michigan. And that Michigan only has a shared national title before the CFP. I don’t think they had even won a CFP game before yesterday? Big monkey off their back and they made many mistakes in that game but overcame when the chips were down.

I actually prefer that he hasn't won a Lombardi yet, as no coach has yet to win one with two teams. And I don't think a HC could overcome that plus whatever bad Chargers mojo still exists.

Also not fair to compare him to Marty. Harbaugh is 5-3 in the playoffs as was pointed out, and I don't think he has a litany of soul crushing losses on his resume (the drive, the fumble, etc etc). Dude came pretty close to beating his brother in that Super Bowl.

We deserve to see what he can do with Herbert. You saw a team yesterday that despite special teams shitting the bed, hung in there and kept grinding and eventually pulled it out. Any recent Chargers team in that situation would have folded by halftime.

                  He is the answer.

Seriously, if they win next week, perfect storyline to leave for the NFL. Nothing else left to do. Not sure how many seniors he's losing, but with the transfer portal these days, college football just isn't the same. Would probably be very difficult to repeat next year especially with the Pac 12 teams joining the Big 10... will just be much tougher all around.

I think Washington will be tough, though. Michigan's defense has been pretty good all year, we'll see if that holds up again next week.

But yeah, a national championship and it looks like all stars are aligned.

There is more to it than that.

The team in San Francisco started falling apart, and he jumps ship avoiding any blame for it's demise.

And how many times has he choked on the national stage?

If you want to go to the Super Bowl 4 times like the Buffalo Bills did never winning the crown, Harbaugh is definitely your guy.

If you truly want a Super Bowl ring? Look somewhere else.

Let's stop chasing the last great coach and keep looking for the next one.

Exactly right that if Michigan wins - what more is there for him to do. I guess he could hang around like Saban and get National Titles but my guess, and seeing his Brother as the #1 seed - he will want that to be his next goal. Granted, I think John already beat Jim once - but yes, the next thing for Jim would be the Lombardi trophy

He would have the QB -- the rest can be worked out - meaning dealing with the cap, and the roster.
