    Agreed.
This is exactly why I made the apparently abhorrent proposal that we trade #5 and Khalil's contract for #19, #51 & #83 with the Rams.

Here again is my oft repeated cautionary tale.
The draft trade charts are useful.
However trades happen frequently that deviate from these models.

think it's much more likely that we get a first & second, rather than zero chance.... they are top ten talents at a premium position, and.... TT traded for Mack when he was pretty much a physical wreck.... Chubb and Miller weren't exactly bills of health either.... FA is not unlike the draft, as 'tis usually a 50/50 proposition.... ??

think it's fairly certain that Telesco will take the either of JJ McCarthy or Nix, that is left post Denver, and not so sure that Penix is off the board any time before Pittsburgh, and so.... that leaves N'awlins w/the short end of that straw.... unless they choose to trade up to five, and given that Jayden is still on the board.

speaking for myself am looking Dline, and.... if I can get #19 as well, would be looking to nab both of an ED & DT.... Latu/Verse, and Murphy/Newton.

But also sure seems a nice draft for RBs.
he plays up anybody on his team, which is not a bad approach. he is saying McCarthy is the best QB in the draft.

once the cameras are off him, i am surely he will do a more critical review of the roster.

Daniel Jeremiah put him at #27 overall in his top 50.

There are some NFL teams that didn't have a QB better than him last year.... Commanders, Raiders, Falcons, Steelers, and a few others. He could be drafted top 50.

Who has it better than us?

Did Harbaugh say he was the best QB in the draft or the best QB at Michigan in the history of the team. Meaning as a college QB - McCarthy was the best.

IMV, Mack has trade value that will have teams interested in acquiring exclusive negotiating rights.
On the other hand, the Chargers have got to find interested trade partners, when everyone knows our dilemma.
Our most beneficial outcome would be to obtain numerous multiple picks in the first 100 pick range.
Agree about Mack, dude is far from done.

Disagree about the draft: most favorable outcome for the team is fielding the best buncha guys who can win games. The draft is a part of that, so is FA, also reworking contracts of needed players. It will be a mix, pretty sure only Harbaugh will be happy with the particulars (and even then maybe not 100% lol).

We’re in a tough spot, but it’s not unmanageable. Curious to see what the roster looks like come September (for instance, three first round WRs on the team is probable at this juncture ..).

Look at his stats - last year was his best year in terms of sacks. The only year close was his second year in the league. Otherwise he was pretty consistent. So whats the normal for Mack. I think like was said it will be somewhere between 2022 and 2023. Pretty consistent in terms of games played. Only the one year when he played seven games,. Last year looks to be an aberration. Maybe he was playing for a contract as he knew his cap number.

And if think the Chargers will get a comp pick for Mack - odds are very low at his age and structure of a contract they will ever be in position to get value for him. Hence, why I think this is the year to trade him.

Prove it. Since the Jimmy Johnson trade chart came into being - find a team that traded the 5th pick in the draft for 82% of value

If one values Mack as a late 4th rounder - the Chargers are sending out 1740 of value based on the model

The Chargers would be receiving 1440 of value - per the model

This is not trading a 3rd rounder for an extra 5th and getting 95% of value. You want to trade a top 5 pick -- and the gap between 5 and 19 is probably greater than 19 and 34 (if not 19 to 50) -for 82% of perceived value.
