It might be a good idea to cut Pipkins and then use that 6m to sign Brandon Scherff. Better depth. They could have some heavy lineups on goal line situations where they put Scherff at RG and Becton at RT and Alt can be tackle eligible. Matlock at FB and Najee RB.
There was a time long ago where Tomlinson running behind LoNeal lead block said the opponent knew we were running power and knew exactly where we wanted to run it and we did it anyway and they couldn't stop it. Old school physical football still works if you build your LOS to kick the opponents ass it worked so well that when opponent loaded up in the redzone to stop it, LaDainian could do the half back pass that was always open.Who has it better than us?

If they pull off a trade for Andrews this goes from a lackluster off-season by many views to a REALLY good off-season. I'll go up and get that 89 David Boston jersey out of the attic. I already ripped the nameplate off.Originally posted by Fouts2herbert View Post
depends on what the Chargers offer in trade, Hortiz has the ammo with the extra draft picks, we'll see...

Actually, Scherff was my plan B if they didn't sign Becton, but I wouldn't be surprised if he or at least 1 more OG is added. Whoever they add would cost less than Becton's 2/20 deal.Originally posted by Critty View PostIt might be a good idea to cut Pipkins and then use that 6m to sign Brandon Scherff. Better depth. 2) Re-sign Tart, Hand (4m), Phillips (5m)
3) Sign the ERFA's Williams, Patterson, and Vidal (3m).
4) Sign free agents Cole Strange (OG-1.5 m), Whyatt Teller (OG-10m), Luke Fortner (OC-6.5m), Brunskill (OC-vet min) Leo Chenal (LB-5m), Rashid Shaheed (WR- 14m), Cade Otten (TE-8m) Greg Dulcich (TE-3m), K'Lavon Chaisson (ED 9m), Myers (DT-7.8m), Alec Ingold (FB-6m), Hendrickson (ED-25m), Seumalo (OG-9m), AVT (OG). Yeah, Hernandez would be another good value signing to compete for a starting position or back up. Let them compete for both OG positions.Originally posted by Fouts2herbert View Post

I don't reply directly to that stuff either, but I side with people that are being reasonable just let folks know that they are not wrong in being patient and letting things play out, when I was younger I would've been losing my shit, but now I'm thinking we have the best FO since the Spanos bought the team and they are proving it in spades in the short 14 months that they've been at the helm, value signings, sensible trades, you name it, these guys are legit...it's a joy to watch Hortiz and his staff work AND I absolutely fucking love the relationship that Hortiz and Harbaugh have, that clip of Jim telling Joe to "pay the man" during the combine interviews was fucking hysterical, can you imagine AJ Smith and Marty carrying on like that? this here is an amazing thing that the Chargers have going right now...God I hope and pray that it lasts for at least another 5-6 years...Originally posted by northerner View Post

Will is coming off of a knee injury so they could get him at a very reasonable price for one year...Originally posted by Chargers8491 View Post

Considering the Chargers have only made the AFCCG once in the past 30 years, you could say we’re right most of the time.Originally posted by FtheTurds View Post

It would have been helpful if some here didn't boldly assert that Hortiz just wants to build through the draft.Originally posted by FtheTurds View Post

So, expect to bring in a team full of backups in free agency (aka depth) to fill the empty roster spots.
Again and again they would say it ... that part was maddening.
I was hoping for a Mike Goff type on the oline ... figuring Hortiz knows more than at least some of us pretend to know on the abilities of those who were available.
I was never on board the Trey Smith / 25 million + wagon ... Becton was a pleasant surprise.
