I would be shocked if Trey Smith is available. I don't think Dalman fits our scheme, also no guarantee he becomes available too. But yes, of course they would be welcome additions.

I think we will replace Pipkins, but I would be prepared to start 2025 with Zion and Bozeman. Hopefully Hortiz finds some gems in the later rounds. I think he will need to primarily work thru the draft this year. It's a very weak FA class in general.

Fuck this - not in a million years can we stick with BOTH of them . . . . . . . . Maybe 1 can stay, but I'm skeptical of even that.

If we have to start the 2025 season with any combination of Zion / Bozeman / Pipkins I would consider that a major fail for Hortiz . . . . . . . at a minimum 2 of these 3 guys have got to be upgraded.

Zion stays, Boze stays unless we sign a better vet. We draft a very good RG. We may take a C in the draft to be Boze' understudy.

The Chiefs have unsuccessfully invested on OT in recent drafts and have a lot of money tied up on Humphrey, Tuney, and Taylor...so they are in a bit of a bind in terms of what they might do with the O-line considering that they're already paying big money to those three players and the tackles that they drafted haven't shown that they will develop into viable starters...so do they pay big money to another IOL guy or do they try and find a better LT in free agency or do they take another swing in the draft?

But they can afford Higgins or Smith. They just need to cut Pipkins and Bosa to start with. I think the Bosa talk - just release him. He has 14 sacks in 3 years, is injury prone. Don't ask him again to take a pay cut - let him find a new team

So now it comes down to - do you spend big money on the RG to solidify a young OL for the next 4-5 years or do you spend big money on the WR who is a very good fit with Ladd and sign a veteran RG. Personally, I still go with Trey Smith and figure out WR in the draft. But if they go Higgins and Zeitler - I wouldn't hate it

The Chargers can be players in free agency
and just because Telesco was a bad GM doesn't mean Hortiz will be in identifying the right players

Aim High -to beat the Chiefs have to aim big!

And by the way Cooper Kupp and Keenan Allen aren't the answers at WR.
I think I lean to the trench - sign the young stud OG, Chargers will have the core of a top OL for the next 4 yrs, and draft weapons over and over as needed to find elite. signing a proven top FA WR costs $35M/yr now, vs $20M/yr for Top OG - thats $15M/yr, which can buy two more better than good players - its really simple basic math folks.

CK and KA might be answer #3 or #4 to LAC WR, not sure, but they are not Answer #1 which is what LAC still needs

I don't think quanity is the answer to quality. We've been dealing with quanity for quite some time imo. We need better to best we can get, for a SB run.

Zion gets upgraded if the RG doesn't need C help every play.

But I think this is where you have to trust your draft board. I doubt the top 25 players are a perfect stair step - meaning play 1 is a 10, play 2 a 9.9 player 3, a 9.8, and so on

So if there is a cut off - and you have the top 18 player picking at 22 -- -and there is a noticeable gap - you take the player

But at 22 - if you have a bunch of guys between say 8.75 and 8.81 - that is where it might make sense to trade back, get another pick.

As overall, I agree with you - if the talent is noticeable - take the talent

I will say this - if the Chargers get Trey Smith - signing a guy like Allen or Kupp for under $10m and drafting a WR wouldn't be the worst

I just don't want the RG to be Zeitler or Scherff and the major WR signing to be Allen or Kupp

I tend to agree. My hope is that Zion is salvageable with a better than average center who doesn't have to help a better than average right guard . . . . . . . BUT - I think Zion must be blind in his right eye or something, otherwise how can he not notice the 6'-4" 300 lb stunting DE running past him 2 feet away? Seriously - could he have (physical) vision issues? Rather than just being braindead?

                          Agree.

Up to Hortiz but I don't see how there is no BPA at 22. I like quality players. Everything but QB is in play. Might even be an OT if we believe he'd make a great RG.
