It's crocodile tears for owners of $5 Billion franchises!

        Correct

I just want to win games and get the big trophy. I don't care about the Spanii bank account. That doesn't mean spend frivolously or stupid. But to get good players, have to spend money. Due diligence, research, scheme fit -- understanding you have to manage the cap - but get better players on the roster. Preferably those that have a chance to be a part of this core group for 3 to 4 years. Its fine to have Mack back but I don't want an offseason of Mack, ZEitler, Kelly and Adams - all "bridge" players. Get a couple cornerstones.

I just don't believe him about bringing back as many players from an 11-6 team that got beat soundly

That doesn't mean blowing it up but it does mean targeting areas to improve. I get it - its just GM speak.

That said, the draft is how the team will be built. Cornerstone of building a team in the NFL. Free agency is used to augment - the draft is used to build.

I’m not sure that’s due to guaranteed money as much as it is the teams overcommitting future money to win now.
Now, if you excuse me, I have some Charger memories to suppress.
              Let’s win one for Mack.

The Chargers haven't won a division title in 16 years I believe

Over the last 12 - 6 play-off games, all wildcards, two wins

Not that I want the team to go in cap hell and be stupid about signing players to try to win it all this year. But if the goal is to win, the team needs to spend some money in free agency. Spend it wisely, get some good players, draft and try to improve from last year. That should be the goal. And if Trey Smith gets $60m guaranteed and Rashawn Slaters gets $70m guaranteed, so be it.

As many as they can he said. Pipkins won't be back, Bozeman may not be back. We know Chark won't be back, Reager likely won't be back. Hurst won't be back.

I'm sure he knows he has to upgrade some positions and that's what I'm taking from it.

Granted, he wasn't the only one. Was watching NFL Live and a lot of "GM/Coach" speak going on these few days in Indy
No tipping hands - which makes sense.

Joe Hortiz says, “control the LOS, control the game.” I think that’s one of his rock bottom rules of football.

our lines need more work, how does he get there? Beef in the 1st? Can’t rule it out. A redo of last year, beef in the 1st, skill in the 2nd? Can’t rule it out.

I would rule out going two rounds without beef though.

Concur. The need is considerable, and BEEF is critical to the way the team is structured, philosophically.

Most rounds, I think Hortiz will target BEEF unless there's a superior BPA at a different position of need.

What we WON'T be getting is a Charlie Whitehurst in the 3rd round. Still shaking my head about that one.

Also heard him say that's how we did things at Baltimore, what I learned and it works( not word for word) ..so best to bet he isn't spending big on a WR.

Loves comp picks but knows we won't get 3-4 every year. Likely not this year. Maybe 2 which works as well.
